Multiboxing is nonsense – at least that is what your opinions suggest. However, some readers of MeinMMO find multiboxing good or even practice it themselves.
Multiboxing in MMORPGs like World of Warcraft is a hot topic. A few days ago, we wanted to know from you, how you feel about multiboxers in MMOs and you answered clearly. Accordingly, multiboxers are quite unpopular and the majority of you wish that they would generally be banned from every game.
What is multiboxing? Multiboxing is playing multiple accounts and thus characters simultaneously. A single player can control a whole group of characters, making them significantly more efficient. Therefore, they can handle dungeons solo, overpower other players in PvP, or farm resources in the world with multiple effectiveness.
Almost 70% want to ban multiboxing
Our survey clearly shows that the majority of our readers view multiboxers critically. A solid 69% chose the response option “Multiboxing should always be banned!”.
Many players report their experiences with multiboxers and how, in their opinion, it has harmed the economy of the servers and the fun of the game. For instance, Sas Cha writes on Facebook:
In my opinion, it is simply wrong and also destroys the economy in the game. On Thrall [a WoW server], several of them fly around while herb farming. In Nazjatar, the herbs are limited to 10x picking, after which they disappear. The auction house is dominated, at least regarding the current herbs, by a handful of players. It’s extremely annoying, especially when you don’t have much gold yourself.
This opinion is also shared by Jessica Neu, also via Facebook:
Well, since someone dominates the entire auction house on Eredar [a WoW server], it’s quite annoying …
Some multiboxers have also abused their power, to steal character names from other players.
Almost every 5th person doesn’t care about multiboxing
With 17% of the votes, there is also a group that simply doesn’t care about multiboxers. They are neutral towards them or have had both positive and negative experiences.
Denise Senger writes about this on Facebook:
I see them more often, sometimes they are annoying because I take longer to complete world quests. Or they help me, then it goes really fast.
Some find multiboxing acceptable
At least 11% of our readers have no problem with multiboxing as long as it is banned in competitive areas, such as PvP. Otherwise, strange situations occur. As long as multiboxing takes place in a PvE environment, they see no problem with it.
The smallest percentage (3%) even has a positive view of multiboxers and has no problem with them. They find the simultaneous playing of multiple characters even interesting or cool and would do it themselves if they had the opportunity or the resources to do so.

I don’t particularly like them when they get in my way, e.g., when I’m farming something, but I would do the same if I had the opportunity.
They pay a lot for it, so they should definitely have the right to get more, to put it simply.
