The fact that an MMORPG is being released for smartphones is no longer a rarity today. However, the new ArcheAge Walk has a special feature. It mixes elements from Pokémon GO with those of an RPG to attract players.
What is ArcheAge Walk? The mobile game is set to become an MMORPG that takes place in the universe of ArcheAge. It operates based on location, meaning you will need to move and cover distances in the real world, similar to Pokémon GO.
So far, it is known:
- Players will be able to fight monsters as in other MMORPGs.
- Features like housing and personal vehicles are expected to play a significant role.
- The game is supposed to be fun and provide a great sense of achievement.
How exactly the location-based technology will be utilized is still unknown, but screenshots provide a first glimpse into a possible system.
What do the images show? In the first image, you can see the character interface and the equipped gear. The second image shows the housing. There, the player is currently placing a piece of furniture.
The third image is the most exciting because it gives an insight into the game world. Apparently, you need to move in order to encounter opponents.
Publisher of BDO takes care of development
Who is behind ArcheAge Walk? The new mobile game is said to be developed by Life MMO Corp. They have signed a contract with XLGames, the developer of ArcheAge.
Life MMO Corp is a subsidiary of Kakao Games, which is known as the publisher of PUBG and the MMORPG competitor Black Desert.
Correction: Originally, it was stated here that Kakao Games was involved in the development of Black Desert Mobile. This is not correct, as Pearl Abyss has informed us. BDO Mobile is only developed and distributed by Pearl Abyss.
How far along is the development of ArcheAge Walk? Kakao Games announced just yesterday, on September 23, that there is a collaboration between the companies.
According to mmorpg.org.pl, ArcheAge Walk is not expected to be released in Korea until the second half of 2020. Whether it will even come to the West is currently unknown.
