ArcheAge Unchained, the Buy2Play version of the MMORPG, can be played for free over the long weekend. We will tell you why trying it out is worthwhile and what to expect in the game soon.
When and where will the game be free? From Thursday, May 21, to Monday, May 25, you can play ArcheAge Unchained for free. To do this, you need to redeem the promo code: “AAUFREETRIAL2020” on the official website.
From the start of the event until May 29, the game will also be available at a reduced price:
- The Silver Pack costs 19.99 instead of 25.99 Euros
- The Gold Pack costs 39.99 instead of 49.99 Euros
- The Archerum Pack costs 59.99 instead of 79.99 Euros
A Game for Sandbox Fans
What does the MMORPG offer? ArcheAge targets sandbox fans who enjoy creating their own content and do not necessarily want to be guided by quests and a linear story.
Key features include:
- The large and open world where PvP can take place
- The construction of your own ships and battles on the open sea
- A specialization system that allows 220 class combinations since Patch 6.0
- A large economy and trade system where transporting goods also plays a role
- A very detailed housing system
In the endgame, there are also many daily quests and battles for forts since the Hiram update, which should keep players engaged in the long term.

ArcheAge Unchained – Is it really free from Pay2Win?
What is different about Unchained? While the original version of ArcheAge has a subscription system and obvious Pay2Win elements, Unchained has officially discarded these.
Instead, there is a Battle Pass and a shop that only offers cosmetic content for real money.
What about Pay2Win? While the shop and the pass are indeed free from accusations, there is still criticism that a player is allowed to have up to 3 accounts.
Multiple accounts provide advantages due to work points that are consumed for activities like gathering or crafting. We already reported on this from MeinMMO in February.
So far, the situation has not changed.
Is it worth it? ArcheAge offers a lot to do and experience if you can embrace the sandbox principle. Especially the adventures at sea characterize the game. If you want, you can become a pirate and take on both factions of the game.
However, one should not be afraid of grind and PvP if they want to engage with the MMORPG in the long term.
Moreover, starting in May 2020 will make it difficult to compete at the top. The players there have already been grinding for months and usually use multiple accounts to progress effectively.

What about the future of ArcheAge? If you found fun in the game after the four free days, you can soon look forward to new content.
On June 11, the MMORPG should receive an expansion called “Garden of the Gods”. In this, you can expect:
- A new area
- 59 new quests that are supposed to further the story
- New items and treasures
- New tiers for the Erenor, Hiram, and awakened raid armor
- New raids against bosses
How things will proceed after the “Garden of the Gods” has not been officially revealed yet. However, since ArcheAge still performs well under publisher Gamigo, and the version in Asia is somewhat ahead of ours, further updates are likely.
