ArcheAge, the complex sandbox MMO from Trion Worlds, is getting not only new areas and content with Update 3.5 Erenor Eternal. A revision of the crafting system partially removes the annoying random factor.
Those who wanted to craft items in ArcheAge until now had to have a lot of patience and a high tolerance for frustration. A high RNG factor (random number generator) often meant that you didn’t get the item with the properties that you actually wanted.
While this is not completely over now, the RNG factor has at least been partially mitigated. With Update 3.5 Erenor Eternal, crafting is revised, and new regions are also being added. We were live with Merv Lee Kwai (Executive Producer) and had him show us the updates directly.
ArcheAge 3.5 – Crafting – A little more as it should be
With Update 3.5, the random factor disappears to a certain extent from crafting. Instead of randomly rolling a version from four options, you now always get the piece that you want. This is a good reason to finally devote yourself properly to crafting. Additionally, the chances of upgrades are now communicated more specifically.
Moreover, the crafting tiers are reduced from cumbersome five to convenient two, and a new high-end crafting level called “Erenor” is introduced. Anyone equipping all items of this quality also receives cool visual effects like wings.
Erenor items are upgraded differently than existing gear: Similar to Blade & Soul, you have to “feed” items of the same type to the Erenor items to improve them. These items must be at least “Divine” level. Unfortunately, crafting such items still requires a lot of RNG if you don’t want to buy them directly. However, the Erenor items themselves can truly be upgraded without RNG and without worry.
Especially cool: You can craft a new car, the Rampage S2100, which looks like a classic Rolls Royce and offers space for four players. And in terms of resources, the new car is just as expensive as the previous cars.
ArcheAge Erenor Eternal – Trade 2.0
If you want to succeed in ArcheAge, you can’t get around extensive trading journeys. Until now, players built a special trade package and dragged it back and forth across the world to new markets. With the new system from Erenor Eternal, you can now only sell your packages in special towers in the large cities.
You can also export cargo across the sea and undertake the journey either on your own (risking PvP) or pay for a passage on a non-attackable NPC ship. The faster you ship the cargo, the more it is worth, as the stuff decays along the way and can lose up to 20 percent of its value at worst.
New Zones – PvE leads to PvP
With the Erenor Eternal update, new zones with their own PvE and PvP mechanics are introduced. On Aegis Island or Whalesong Harbour, dynamic events take place. However, these only start when enough NPCs have been defeated; then a state of war is declared and the big PvP begins. Additionally, a global PvE event starts.
For example, in Whalesong Harbor, towers are attacked by monsters in increasingly stronger waves, and players must fend them off with the help of fortifications. Meanwhile, the PvP continues. The state of war lasts for 40 minutes, then peace returns and PvP is banned.
Alternative Progression with Ancestral Skills
Previously, skills were maximized at level 55, and there was nothing beyond that. With Update 3.5, you can continue to progress past level 55. Once you have proven yourself worthy of the power of your ancestors, you can learn the Ancestral Skills. Ancestral Skills expand existing abilities.
There are three for each class, but more are planned for the future. Each Ancestral Skill will also have two improvements that allow you to further customize your skill to your needs. For example, by having a skill cause a knockdown or increase the duration of a damage effect.

The Erenor Eternal update for ArcheAge is now online. If you have played ArcheAge before and want to return, you are in luck. Trion offers every returning player a ticket to receive special equipment of the “Soulforged” level. There is also a costume reminiscent of Lucius’s outfit from the early days of the base game.
