We haven’t heard much about the MMORPG ArcheAge lately, or is that just the impression? Let’s take a look at the situation around the online role-playing game.
What’s happening with ArcheAge? ArcheAge launched in Europe in September 2014. The last major update “Echos of Hiram” was released in June this year. This update introduced the eastern Hiram Mountains as a new play area and expanded the story surrounding the emergence of the Abyssal Legion.

How ArcheAge is Doing
How many players does the MMORPG currently have? The publisher Gamigo does not provide official numbers. However, it is possible to look at the numbers of the Steam version.
According to Steamcharts, there are currently around 363 players playing ArcheAge concurrently, with peak times in the last 30 days reaching 546. The all-time high was 6,490 players via Steam. The numbers have thus dropped significantly. And that especially since Gamigo acquired Trion Worlds.
This is partly due to apparent issues with logging in to the new servers with a Steam account. This doesn’t always work, which is why more players are resorting to the ArcheAge launcher.
What is the mood in the community? The ratings for ArcheAge on Steam have been at 57 percent in the last 30 days, being “Mixed”.
Criticism has been raised lately that much more attention is being paid to the item shop, and many events now revolve solely around the shop. Moreover, fans simply wish for more from the updates, which bring new content every few months.
Allegations of pay-to-win re-emerge, particularly concerning new mounts that provide advantages, before players complain loudly.
Nevertheless, many still consider ArcheAge to be a really good MMORPG, especially if you like PvP. The grind for better equipment has been improved, and players can now participate in endgame content more quickly.
The “Mixed” rating on Steam essentially reflects the players’ opinion very well. Some enjoy ArcheAge, others do not. It is an MMORPG that somewhat divides the community.
Update 6.0 Planned
What does the future hold? Currently, the major update 6.0 is in the works. This will include customizable airships and a revision of the skills.
It is still not clear when this update will be released in the country. Of course, more events are also planned.
So how is ArcheAge currently? The MMORPG is running and is getting regular updates, but according to players, with too little content and at too long intervals. The huge hype around the online game has already calmed down for some time now, but ArcheAge still has its fans, and Gamigo stated they want to continue to take care of the title.
