In the new MMORPG ArcheAge Unchained, there was a Battle Pass that caused a lot of problems. It is now disabled and the players are very pleased.
What was wrong with the Battle Pass? As a replacement for the subscription being removed in ArcheAge Unchained, Gamigo, the publisher of the game in the West, introduced the ArchePass.
This was intended to provide regular revenue but should not include Pay2Win. The focus of the ArchePass was on cosmetic content.
However, there was an exploit that allowed a lot of gold to be earned with it. Players simply had to reroll and complete the world boss quest repeatedly. Therefore, players demanded an immediate deactivation.
Gamigo responded: In the first step, the publisher announced that exploiting the pass could lead to permanent bans. This was implemented, but there were again unlocks, which led to further discussions.
Now Gamigo has definitively pulled the plug. In a message, they announced that with a maintenance at 3:00 AM on October 25, the Battle Pass was disabled.
Future of the Pass not yet decided
What’s next for the ArchePass? In the statement regarding the deactivation, it is stated that there is still no concrete plan for when the pass will be reactivated and what permanent fix will be implemented for the issue.
The earned Diligence Coins will remain, as well as the shop where the coins can be exchanged for cosmetic content.
Players wish for a new system: The players of ArcheAge love the sandbox concept. Some are disturbed that they received many daily and weekly tasks with the ArchePass. Some are even calling for the abolition of the other daily quests.
The new system is intended to motivate players to play but not dictate specific tasks. Additionally, the gold reward that some players felt forced to complete quests for will be removed.
