In the sandbox MMO ArcheAge, the function with the Apex has been restored and an extremely bizarre forum post is causing a stir.
In recent days the APEX were disabled. An “exploit” was discovered and made the rounds. This time it was supposedly related to the posting system in ArcheAge and has since been fixed. This exploit, like the one before it, allowed players to obtain unlimited credits, the in-game currency, from a 10-euro item. The Apex can now be purchased and redeemed again.
However, a forum post is causing excitement, which has not yet been confirmed or commented on by Trion Worlds, so it could also be a fake. A player posts an alleged message from a Trion Worlds GM. The message states: The account is banned. The player “owes” Trion Worlds 43 APEX. The account will only be released again when he has settled this debt, meaning he must actually purchase the 43 used APEX in the store. Apparently, this is the answer to a “plea for mercy” to lift a ban.
The user admits to having used the latest APEX exploit, referring to it as “creative exploitation of the game mechanics” and complains that it is now happening to him, while exploiters before him got away with 24-hour bans.
Many fans in the forum were almost exploding with joy over this unusual “method”, which they feel is justified. While others call it “extortion”. On Reddit, it is even said that Trion Worlds is “taking accounts hostage”.
Whether there is any truth to this method is still unknown at the moment. It certainly doesn’t sound very likely; that would be quite absurd. It is probably a clever trolling attempt to push the accusation against Trion Worlds that they are only after money to the extreme. It should be clarified in the next few hours.
