Today, an unannounced event has started in Pokémon GO. Here you can expect items and some worthwhile Pokémon encounters.
If you have been out and about in Pokémon GO today, you might have noticed something on the map that isn’t usually found here: Poké Balls. This is neither a glitch nor a new feature, but this year’s April Fool’s event.
We have looked into what exactly the event brings you and how the spotlight hour is today.
Event and Spotlight Hour on April 1
How long does the event last? The event will take place all day today. You will be able to find the balls on the map until 11:59 PM.
What about the balls? If you click on one of the balls on your map, you can either receive items or a Pokémon encounter. If you catch an item, you will receive a Poké Ball, Great Ball, or Ultra Ball.
If you receive a Pokémon encounter, you can encounter one of the following monsters:
- Voltorb*
- Hisui Voltorb*
- Electrode
- Hisui Electrode
- Shroomish*
- Breloom
- Galarian Weezing*
All monsters marked with a * can also appear as shiny.
Which monsters are particularly worthwhile? If you are hoping to find strong Pokémon to battle here, you will be disappointed. None of the monsters belong to the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
Also in the battle leagues, these monsters play a rather subordinate role. However, in the past, there have been some special cups where Hisui Electrode and Galarian Weezing were able to shine. If you want to play it safe, you can try to catch a correspondingly good specimen during the event.
You definitely shouldn’t miss Shroomish and Breloom. Both monsters are among the Pokémon that bring you more Stardust. For each Shroomish, you receive 500 Stardust, and for each Breloom, you even get 700.
What about today’s spotlight hour? The balls and the Pokémon contained within will also determine today’s spotlight hour, which takes place from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. As a bonus, you will receive double the amount of candy for each catch.
