In Destiny 2 disturbing things are happening right now. While restless Guardians are solving a mythical puzzle, dataminers have found a eulogy from Saint-14. He delivers it about us, the brave Guardian.
Spoiler Warning: This is about upcoming events in Season 9 of Destiny 2, as the title suggests. Those who do not want to read this should refrain from it.
Where is the eulogy? It was included in the patch for Season 9 “Season of the Dawn.” (Season of Dawn)
Dataminers have found the audio files – texts that will eventually be spoken in the game and published on YouTube.
Among the spoken lines of Saint-14 is a eulogy that Saint-14 delivers about us, about the Guardian.
This is what Saint-14 says: Thank you for coming. We have gathered here today to celebrate the life of my mentor, my inspiration. They called him Crota’s End. The terror of the Hive. King Slayer. The Young Wolf. The hero of the Red War. The man who avenged Cayde-6. He had hundreds of titles that I cannot remember.
And he died doing what he did best, defending the Last City of humanity. Ages ago he saved my life. And he inspired me to save myself. I am glad he did that. Because, may the Traveler help us, he is gone. And there is no one left to save us. On the day we met, I decided to follow his example. I do that to this day.
What is it all about? It is currently unclear when Saint-14 delivers this speech and whether it is perhaps related to the puzzle in the Corridors of Time that diligent Guardians have been working on since Tuesday evening .
The presentation makes it clear that the Guardian is dead or at least believed to be dead. However, we can assume that Destiny 2 will not simply end. Saint-14 also seems to expect that the Guardian will somehow return from the dead, therefore he has left him a weapon at his grave.
The story of Saint-14 is relatively complicated, involving time travel. It could be that this is an alternate timeline or that Bungie is planning another plot twist that we cannot foresee right now.
In any case, Bungie seems to have come up with more story and twists for Season 9 than we initially suspected. The complex puzzle indicates that as well.
The exciting question now is: How do we end up in a situation where we die defending the Last City? And is this related to the puzzle that is currently keeping Twitch streamers awake.
