Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 throws old traditions overboard and has even announced that it will remove loadout drops from the game. Now there are hints that the important mechanic is in the game after all – with a major change.
What are loadout drops? These are a supply mechanic that distinguishes Call of Duty: Warzone from other Battle Royale games.
While in PUBG, Apex Legends, or Fortnite you depend on the weapons you find during the match, in Warzone 1 you can bring your own customized weapons into the game.
Loadout drops come down twice in the game or can be purchased at one of the buy stations on the map for a good chunk of cash – but that is supposed to change with Warzone 2.0.
Warzone 2.0 will be released on November 16 with the start of Season 1 of CoD MW2. A short overview of the Battle Royale can be found in the video:
How does it work in Warzone 2.0? It’s still not entirely certain. At the big reveal event CoD: Next in September, it was said that loadout drops would totally disappear.
However, even then, the developers hinted that this could change depending on feedback. And the community has responded – many want to see loadout drops back in Warzone 2.0.
Behold: First leaked images from Warzone 2.0 show that loadout drops are back in the game:
However, there seems to be an important change. CoD insider “@TheGhostOfHope” has commented on this – the Twitter account has been bringing small leaks and opinions about CoD for years.
Hope has received the following information from the CoD environment:
Tweet translation: “The loadout drop in Warzone 2.0 will be a free world drop. Loadouts cannot be purchased.”
Currently, this is still based on leaks. However, the developers’ statements align with the latest findings. But the information is not certain, so remain skeptical for now.
Currently, it seems possible that loadouts could also be an in-match event that does not occur in every match.
How the loadouts will come into the game will still be shown later this week. An event with selected CoD streamers, who are allowed to show the first gameplay of Warzone 2.0, will start on Wednesday (November 10) or Thursday (November 11).
How else can I get weapons in Warzone 2.0? The buy stations are supposed to play a much larger role in this. Here you can either buy your pre-made weapons or base weapons that can then be equipped with attachments during the match.
In addition, you will probably find attachments during the match as ground loot and can equip found or purchased base weapons with them.
