Data miners have found new weapon models for the upcoming expansion Shadowlands for World of Warcraft. They may possibly be found in a previously unknown raid and have some strange models – including harps. The latter apparently only exists for spellcasting classes.
What kind of weapons are these? All the weapons visually resemble the theme of the Night Fae, one of the new covenants in Shadowlands. They display patterns of leaves and vines, wood, and even insect heads with biting tools.
There are various weapons of known types, such as a dagger, a mace, a bow, and a fist weapon. However, one particularly shaped item is intended for the off-hand and looks like a harp:
As an off-hand weapon, it will certainly only be useful for spellcasting classes. However, it likely won’t function, even though Blizzard has had ideas for a bard class in the past and even announced it once as an April Fool’s joke.
The names of the weapons almost all start with “Ardenweald Raid” – a reference to the homeland of the Night Fae and one of the most beautiful areas WoW has ever had. However, there is currently no raid there.
New “Night Fae Raid” in Shadowlands?
Here the weapons were found: The name suggests that a previously unannounced raid could be coming to the game. So far, the only known raid is Castle Nathria, located in Revendreth.
However, players are not sure whether it is actually a new raid. The name could also mean that this is the appearance of the weapons for players who have joined the Night Fae.
In Shadowlands, you obtain the weapons for tokens that you find in the raid and redeem at your covenant. Currently, the corresponding vendor is only available in the beta of Shadowlands among the Venthyr.
It is therefore unclear whether the weapons currently available look like Venthyr weapons because of the raid in Revendreth or if it depends on the vendor. If the latter is the case, each raid would presumably have different weapon models depending on which covenant you choose.
When does Shadowlands come out? Blizzard announced at gamescom 2020 that Shadowlands will be released on October 27, 2020. By then, you will likely know more about what these new weapons are about.
