A fan of Apex Legends has discovered that the hitboxes for the legend Pathfinder are significantly larger than his model. This is a major disadvantage for all fans of the lovable robot.
What is that disadvantage? Tests have shown that the different legends in Apex Legends also have hitboxes of different sizes.
Some heroes are therefore much easier to hit than others. This finding has already been confirmed by Respawn.
Who discovered this? The streamer SookieSpy checked the hitboxes of various heroes in a short clip. For this, he played the tutorial and equipped himself with weapons there. In the tutorial, the legends Bloodhound and Pathfinder are available as allies.
The streamer shot at both. If a bullet hit a hitbox, blood would spray. Otherwise, nothing happened. The streamer noted that Bloodhound’s hitbox accurately matches his model, while Pathfinder’s is much larger than his body.
This phenomenon has been discussed on reddit. There was also a response from Respawn. The problem is apparently already known: Pathfinder’s hitbox is indeed larger than the model.
Respawn has already discussed the phenomenon. What will be done about it is still uncertain.
What is a hitbox? A hitbox, or hit zone, refers to an invisible area around a character’s model. When you shoot at a character, you actually hit the hitbox, not the model.
The hitbox indicates where and how much damage is inflicted. The head generally counts as a critical hit zone with increased damage.
Hitboxes are oriented around the model and should be as precise as possible, to facilitate aiming and ensure fairness:
- As seen in the video, this is the case for Bloodhound.
- Pathfinder, who doesn’t rank well on the tier list, can take damage even when his model is not hit.

What does this mean for me? For players, it means a disadvantage when playing Pathfinder. It is easier for others to hit him, as they do not need to aim at the model but can hit with stray bullets.
This is particularly a disadvantage when you encounter enemies with automatic weapons, like the new Havoc in Apex Legends. The weapons have a high damage output, but correspondingly high spread as well.
However, in this case, the spread is less relevant because the bullets can still hit Pathfinder where they would fly past other legends.

Who else is affected? Besides Pathfinder and Bloodhound, no other of the various legends from Apex Legends have been tested yet.
However, in the corresponding reddit thread, there are already speculations about other characters with disadvantageous or advantageous hitboxes:
- The psychopath Caustic, with whom spectacular kills are possible, apparently also belongs to the disadvantaged legends.
- The legend Wraith is considered difficult to hit, as she is so small and crouches when running.
Is your favorite legend affected?
If you have the impression in Apex Legends that PS4 teammates only look after themselves, it might be true:
