In Apex Legends are currently being disrupted by shameless cheaters who bother honest players. The problem is getting worse, but the developers at Respawn are not giving up and are waging war against the cheaters with new methods.
It is that bad right now: Apex Legends, as a free-to-play battle royale game, has always had a problem with cheaters. Since one can quickly create a new free account after a ban, the fraudsters keep coming back, and especially in ranked play, it is particularly bad in the upper leagues.
It is hardly fun for an honest player to deal with aimboters and wallhackers. After players on Reddit have already suggested substantial anti-cheat measures, there is now a statement from the developers about the “war against the cheaters” for the first time.
Cheaters should cheat each other
This is what Respawn plans to do against the cheaters: In response to player complaints about cheaters and other issues in the game, the developers released this information on Reddit about their “war against the cheaters”. They want to:
- Create algorithms that automatically detect and ban cheaters
- Require two-factor authentication in certain regions for certain accounts
- Constantly adapt to new cheats
- Check if some players regularly team up with cheaters, even if they are not cheating themselves
- Allocate more resources in technology and personnel to combat cheaters
- Optimize matchmaking so that known cheaters compete against each other.
This is how fans are reacting: The last option sounds interesting because certainly, no one has a problem if cheaters beat each other up with their cheats. A similar approach has allegedly been used in PUBG, which made many cheaters very angry.

Other players asked why recognized cheaters are not simply banned right away. However, according to the general opinion of the community, it would be much better to leave them in the game and give them a taste of their own medicine instead. Otherwise, they would just create a new account after a ban and bother innocent players.
