Season 5 of the Battle Royale Apex Legends is finally here. MeinMMO tells you what’s in the update and what you need to know about the new content and the new Battle Pass.
What’s in the update? Today, on May 12, shortly after the targeted time around 19:15, the update for Apex Legends went live on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The update includes:
- a rework for Mirage
- the new season 5 for Apex Legends
- a new Battle Pass with 110 tiers
- content for season 5: new legend, changed map, and new game mode
- several bug fixes and adjustments
Additionally, the map is changing. Where Skulltown used to be in King’s Canyon, there is now a construction platform after that part of the map has collapsed. Along with the rework, “Charge Towers” are coming to the map, which charge your Ultimate when used.
How big is the update? The size of the update is about 9GB.
Mirage Gets a Rework
One of the highlights and for some players the highlight of the update is the rework of the legend Mirage. Mirage has been considered a rather weak character by players so far, as his abilities were rarely useful.
This is how Mirage is changing: Mirage will receive an improved kit of abilities:
- Psyche Out (tactical ability): Mirage can control his mirror image. While controlled, it mimics all of Mirage’s activities. The mirror image lasts 60 seconds
- Now You See Me… (passive): Mirage now disguises himself when knocked down, when using a respawn station, and when reviving a team member, who is also disguised
- Life of the Party (Ultimate): Mirage creates multiple mirror images that mimic him. They last for 60 seconds
What do players say about it? So far, no one has played the new Mirage, but the changes themselves seem to have impressed his fans.
In the official reddit post about the update, the top comment from Playbook420 says: “MIRAGE-MAINS RISE UP, HOLY SHIT”.
Update on Season 5 – Patch Notes
This is the new legend Loba: The new legend Loba has already been announced in advance with her own trailer. She is a thief whose skill set revolves around finding and stealing items.
Loba herself has a history with the legend from Season 4, Revenant. Revenant killed her father and Loba now seeks revenge. You can purchase her for 750 Coins (about €7.50) or 12,000 Legend Tokens in the shop.
This is what’s in the Battle Pass: The Battle Pass features 110 tiers, with which you can already unlock 25 tiers through a bundle. For the purchase alone, you already receive the legendary “Retrofitted” skin for the Hemlock and three new Rare skins. The tier rewards include:
- Weapon skins
- Skydive emotes
- Apex Packs
- Music packs
- Legend skins and more
The Battle Pass itself costs 950 Coins (about €9.50), and the bundle with 25 tiers costs 2800 Coins (about €25). To level up, you need to complete challenges and gain experience as usual. In the free path of the Battle Pass, there are:
- the “Huntsman” skin for Loba
- 5 Apex Packs
- Victory Tracker for Season 5 for all Legends
We have embedded the trailer for the Battle Pass with some of the content here for you:
This is the new PvE mode: “Broken Ghost” is the new PvE mode that you can unlock or buy in Apex Legends. You can collect treasure chests in Battle Royale daily, with which you unlock a total of nine PvE missions.
In the missions, you will learn more about the background story of various Legends as well as the story of Apex Legends and fight against beasts that have appeared in Bloodhound’s Hunt event.
The PvE mode is one of the reasons why season 5 is becoming the most exciting season so far for MeinMMO author Jürgen Horn.
What else is changing? In addition to the new features, there are numerous changes to Legends and weapons. For example, the Mastiff will become a regular, weaker weapon that can be found everywhere, and the Peacekeeper will come in as a gold variant in the drops.
You can find the complete patch notes on the official Apex Legends website.
