More information about Season 4 of Apex Legends “Assimilation” is coming to light. A start date is already known, and there are more teasers within the game itself. The new legend Revenant has also been introduced, although in a slightly different way than usual.
When does Season 4 start? The new Season 4 “Assimilation” begins on February 4, 2020. This will be shortly after the current Season 3 ends.
The end of Season 3 has been postponed and extended by one month. Initially, we thought that the season, like the previous ones, would last over three months and end in early January. However, it will run longer.
Season 4 will start exactly one year after the release of Apex Legends on February 4, 2019. It will run until May 12.
Contents of Season 4 – Trailer, Map, Character
On February 4, the fourth season of Apex Legends began. Here’s what it contains.
New Legend – Revenant
Who is Revenant? The new legend is Revenant, the dark mastermind behind the Halloween event and “Shadowfall”.
Revenant is the fourth new legend, following Octane, Wattson and Crypto .
Revenant can be seen for the first time in a teaser, where he kills the legend Forge during its introduction:
It is quite possible that Respawn introduced Forge and its abilities with the “Grand Soirée” event to mislead data miners.
This introduction of Revenant shocked many players, as Forge was already assumed to be the new legend. Forge was briefly introduced in a trailer and data miners had already found his abilities.
What can Revenant do? Revenant’s skill list consists of the following abilities:
- Stalker (passive): You crouch faster and can climb higher on walls.
- Silence (tactical): Throws a device that deals damage and disables enemy abilities for 20 seconds.
- Death Totem (ultimate): Places a totem. If you die while the totem is active, you return to the totem instead. Armor is disabled while the shield is active.
Trailer
What’s in the trailer: On January 30, Respawn released the official trailer for Season 4 “Assimilation”. This focuses entirely on Revenant and its story.
The trailer provides insights into Revenant’s background, but also leaves fans wondering what it all means.
New Battle Pass and Rankings
What’s in the Battle Pass: Along with the update, the Battle Pass for Season 4 of Apex Legends was released. As before, there are many cosmetics to earn this time, including skins, music, and emotes. We’ve embedded the overview trailer for you here:
Here’s how the new ranking works: There are also new rules for the upcoming Ranked Series 3. The developers shared more details in a blog:
- The series lasts again for 3 months, but will be divided into two “splits” of six weeks each.
- The splits offer a “soft reset”. The first split will be played on World’s Edge, the second split in King’s Canyon.
- Rewards are given for the highest rank from both splits.
- The “Master” rank will be introduced. “Apex Predator” will now only refer to the 500 best players on a platform.
- From Platinum onward, you can only team up with players who deviate by at most one rank from you.
New Weapon – Sentinel
What is the Sentinel? On the official website, the developers have also introduced the new weapon Sentinel. It is a “bolt-action sniper rifle.”
Will the map change with Season 4?
This is how the map could change: In a teaser, something that players consider to be a spaceship can be seen. It is still unclear whether this supposed spaceship will possibly lead to a new map. However, this is rather unlikely, as World’s Edge was implemented only a few months ago.
However, the map could still change. Similar to what happened in Season 2, when the Repulsor was destroyed and the map drastically changed.
A change to World’s Edge, perhaps through the crash of a spaceship or a landing capsule, would initiate a kind of regularity.
Teaser for Season 4
This is shown in the first teaser: On Tuesday, January 21, a first teaser for Season 4 appeared in Apex Legends. On the new map World’s Edge, a huge black cloud can be seen in the sky.
Amidst this cloud, a blue spot can be recognized. Some players have made their way to the highest buildings to take a closer look at this point with a scope. Apparently, these are three glowing dots that strongly resemble the engines of a spaceship.
If this is indeed a teaser for Season 4, it would have come exactly two weeks before the start of the new season. This is precisely the period in which teasers have appeared in the past.
More teasers: New teasers for Season 4 have appeared on the map. Among other things, a strange construct from Hammond Robotics is now on World’s Edge.
Hammond Robotics is the company that Forge owes its cybernetic arm to. An interaction with the object causes the huge hologram logo of Hammond Robotics to appear in the background.
Further possible changes
This is still likely: Season 3 has made some changes to the loot. Popular attachments have disappeared from possible loot, and new ones have been added. As this is supposed to be a rotation, it is likely that Season 4 will change the loot again.
Additionally, there have been a number of “quality of life” changes and bug fixes. We also expect these, and a certain bug should be fixed promptly:
