Respawn has announced drastic changes for the second Battle Pass of Apex Legends. In the upcoming Season 2 of the shooter, much of the criticism of the first Battle Pass will be addressed. Additionally, challenges and time-limited events are to come.
What changes will be made to the Battle Pass? After the first Battle Pass of Apex Legends disappointed many players, the second Battle Pass is expected to be significantly better.
On the official website of Apex Legends, Lead Product Manager Lee Horn gave a brief overview:
- Daily and weekly challenges are to ensure faster progress in the Battle Pass
- Level 100 should be achievable more quickly
- Three additional legendary skins will be available
- Three new categories will replace the badges and stat trackers
- There will be enough crafting materials in the rewards to craft any legendary item
This will likely eliminate three of the biggest criticisms of the Battle Pass:
- The grind duration for level 100
- The boring rewards
- The lack of crafting materials, which could only be circumvented by changing the region to Belgium
Additionally, a time-limited event will be available in Apex Legends, for which some information has already been revealed.
When do Season 2 and the Battle Pass release? When exactly the Battle Pass will be released has not yet been disclosed. However, on June 7, 2019, more information will be shared.
The new information will be available during the “EA Play” stream shortly before the official press conferences of the E3 2019.
The changes to the Battle Pass in detail
What kind of challenges will there be? That challenges will be possible has been previously discovered by data miners and confirmed by the developers.
Although they do not want crazy challenges like competitor Fortnite, there will be some.
The challenges will come in the form of daily and weekly challenges. The weekly challenges will accumulate. So if you don’t complete everything in one week, you can continue in the next week without losing anything.
How exactly the challenges will look has not yet been stated. They are not supposed to “drastically change” the gameplay but will provide “interesting variation from game to game”.
Here’s how the new skins will be available: The legendary items in the Battle Pass will be available every 25 levels, starting from level 1 of the Battle Pass, specifically on levels 1, 25, 50, 75, and 100.
The skin at level 100 will be a developing skin, like the Havoc from Season 1, with a color variant at level 110.
If none of the new items are appealing, players can accumulate enough crafting materials throughout the duration of the Battle Pass to craft any Legendary skin.
What replaces the badges? Instead of badges and stat trackers for your banner, Season 2 will see three new content categories introduced. Which these will be will be revealed closer to the start of Season 2.
However, at least one badge is still expected to exist for Season 2. This will evolve throughout the season rather than occupying reward slots like in Season 1.
This is the event “The Legendary Hunt”
In addition to the Battle Pass, Respawn announced a new event named “The Hunt.” This will likely conclude Season 1.
What kind of event is this? The event consists of several features:
- Apex Elite Queue – Players who finish a match in the top 5 can join the “Elite Queue.” There, you play against the “best” and must finish in the top 5 again to continue playing.
- Legendary Hunt Challenges – Complete challenges to earn rare, epic, or legendary skins, such as the epic “Master of the Hunt” skin in the title image
- Double XP – From Friday, June 7 to Monday, June 10, players will receive double experience points for leveling up and the Battle Pass
- Bonus XP – A placement in the top 5 grants bonus experience points for the Battle Pass (once daily)
Additionally, exclusive skins will rotate in the shop and be available for purchase.
These are the rewards: Owners of the Battle Pass receive some additional rewards. Those who purchased the Battle Pass will receive the “Legendary Honored Pray” skin for the R-301. Anyone who plays at least until level 15 of the Battle Pass before the end of the event will receive the “Night Terror” skin for Wraith.
When does the event start? The event is set to begin next Tuesday, June 4, 2019. It is expected to last two weeks.
