Some days are just stressful and unpleasant. Nothing seems to go right, and you feel down. But it doesn’t have to stay that way. Read here how MeinMMO author Jürgen Horn found great happiness after a stressful day in Apex Legends‘ new Season 7.
On November 5th, the 7th season of the battle royale shooter Apex Legends was released. I was really excited about the new season because there were a lot more new features than ever before:
- A new map
- Vehicles for the first time
- A function to start a kind of guild
- Another heroine with a lovable Scottish accent
So I was counting the days until the launch. But that day was not fun due to work. Fortunately, Apex was able to save it in the end!
A bad day gets better
The lousy Thursday: November 5th, the release day, started badly for me. I got out of bed poorly and there was the usual drama in the morning until my little son was taken care of and at daycare.
After that, I went straight to work where I had to create a guide to ESO and the new solo arena. Since I personally dislike solo arenas, it was a tiring and time-consuming task.
I was quite sluggish until the end of the day and just wanted to have some peace. But usually, that’s when my son wakes up from his nap, and I help my wife take care of the child.
But somehow my wife must have seen that I was really stressed, and she said, “If you want, go ahead and rest a bit, I can manage alone.” I didn’t need to be told twice and started Apex Legends right away!
This is how Season 7 began for me: The first weeks of Season 7 were only about the new map Olympus, and I was eager to explore the new area. Especially the huge mountain in the middle of the floating city, which houses a turbine, was my first drop spot.
But unfortunately, I misjudged my jump and landed not in the turbine housing, but on the slope around it. There, my teammates and I helplessly slid down, and at some point, there was suddenly no ground beneath our feet! Did I already mention that Olympus floats hundreds of meters above the planet? Now you know!
The second attempt: But this first failure did not discourage me, and I immediately started a new session. It went surprisingly well. We quickly found good weapons, and in a access tunnel to a kind of residential area, we met enemies.
They were playing somewhat timidly and hunkered down at the end of the tunnel, but one wanted to know and ran straight into our fire. My first kill in Season 7! Gradually, more enemies joined in, and it turned into an epic mess.
However, the opponents were somehow not what I was used to from Season 6. There, the enemies were usually superior, and as a casual player, I often had the disadvantage. Really good rounds in Apex Legends are more the exception for me. Here, however, the opponents seemed to be a bit clueless. It seems they didn’t know how the game actually works.
I suspect they were new players who came to Season 7 via Steam. They probably had never experienced the fast-paced gameplay of Apex Legends and didn’t know the skills of their heroes yet. Therefore, they were easy prey for players like me with more experience in the game, and I racked up kill after kill.
There were spectacular moments:
- A teammate went down, and I couldn’t reach him because he was crawling in the middle of the corridor and desperately calling for help. He had to somehow escape the death zone! So I threw him a jump pad, and my partner gratefully crawled onto it. It went “whoosh” and he flew like a projectile to the back of the corridor. There he landed behind boxes, and I could safely revive him.
- As soon as I was done, an enemy flew aimlessly over me and landed confused right in front of my EVA-8 shotgun. I fired twice and ended his confusion. The noob must have been following me and triggered the jump pad without knowing what it actually was.
- Another time, an enemy kept running away from me, and I followed him around a container. Finally, I just stopped and turned around. Shortly after, he ran around the corner again and looked puzzled at the barrel of my beloved EVA. Another kill for me!
In the end, we prevailed, and out of four squads that fought over the residential area, only we were left standing at the end. As the death zone was on our heels, we hijacked one of the new vehicles and drove on.
Finally, there was a wild sniper duel between us and the last two remaining squads, which we unfortunately couldn’t win in the end. But we secured many small victories and achieved a lot of kills. A wonderful start for the new season.
And no, they were NOT dumb AI bots that I faced.

This almost perfect first round repeated itself a few times that day. Thanks to the many new players from Steam and the completely new map that even veterans don’t know, Apex feels fresh and new again after over a year since release.
It’s just a lot of fun to explore the new map and not yet knowing the perfect drop spots and loot routes. This is especially beneficial for new players and returnees. So if you want to get to know Apex Legends, now is the time to grab it and install the free-to-play game.
There won’t be a better opportunity to get started anytime soon.
I can hardly wait while writing these lines until the end of the day and maybe my wife will give me a little extra time to play.

However, one thing is really annoying in Season 7: The developers have slowed down the progress in the new battle pass significantly, which is frustrating many players. I also find it unnecessary and have a problem with it despite all the joy in the game.
