Respawn has teased a new legend for Apex Legends with a clip lasting only a few milliseconds. However, this brief moment was enough to assure fans of who is coming, as this legend is already known from leaks.
This is what Respawn has shown: In a tweet on June 6, 2019, Respawn announced its participation in the “EA Play” event just before the E3 press conferences. In the same tweet, the official channel also immediately displayed a short clip.
The clip features a yet-to-be-officially-introduced legend in a white jumpsuit with an orange jacket, rubber gloves, and cables. Lightning is flickering between the hands. Fans are clear: This is Wattson.
This will be the new Legend of Apex Legends
Who is Wattson? Wattson has already been mentioned and teased multiple times by Twitch streamer Shroud. He claimed to have been able to play Wattson while testing Apex Legends before the official release.
He also compared Wattson multiple times to the new legend Octane, which was implemented with the first season of Apex Legends. Compared to Octane, Wattson is “cool, but not that extreme,” as Wattson does not rely as much on speed.
Wattson is more situational and defensive, not as universally usable as the fast legends Octane or Wraith. He – or she – will definitely be the tenth legend of Apex Legends.
What can Wattson do? The abilities of Wattson revolve around electricity and traps according to some leaks. Data miners have thus far found hints for several abilities:
- a skill that could charge or enhance a shield
- a Tesla trap that shocks and possibly stuns enemies
- a currently unknown passive
Unfortunately, there is no more detailed description of the abilities yet. However, at least the Tesla trap seems plausible, as Wattson is involved with electricity according to the brief clip.
When will Wattson be released? Wattson will presumably be the legend of the second season of Apex Legends, similar to Octane for the first season. Respawn wanted to share new information about the second season with us on June 7.
The stream linked in the tweet, however, will start on June 8 at 7 PM. We have embedded it below for you. Whether further information about Wattson and the second season will come beforehand is still unknown.
