A long-standing wish of the community is being fulfilled: Apex Legends is getting a solo mode. However, it will only be available for two weeks as part of an event and fans are still excited.
What kind of mode is this? The new solo mode is part of the “Iron Crown Collection” event. This event was announced by the official Twitter account of Apex Legends.
How does the event work? The centerpiece of the event will be a solo mode. Instead of teaming up in groups of three, you will compete alone. More details, such as the number of players per match or specific rules, will be shared later.
The first event of Apex Legends, the “Legendary Hunt” event, already attracted players with challenges that were brought over in Season 2 and limited skins.
Since the trailer already showed a gladiator skin for Bloodhound, a pirate skin for Mirage, and another skin with armor for Lifeline, we assume these will be earnable.
How long does the event last? The “Iron Crown” event kicks off on Tuesday, August 13. It will end again on Tuesday, August 27. Whether and when the mode will return is yet to be seen.
That’s why a solo mode is coming
What the developers say: In addition to the Twitter post, there was also a thread on reddit regarding the event. Here, the developers mentioned that more details will be shared in the coming time.
However, it is also stated that with the event, the solo mode is being “tested”. It almost sounds like the event is a kind of trial run or beta phase for the promised upcoming modes, which could include a solo mode.
What the fans say: Even though the event is just a limited-time opportunity for a solo mode, players are extremely excited:
Holy shit, is this really happening?! I love this approach. If it works, awesome! If not, they can change it with our feedback.

Many players are also making jokes about using the excellent ping system of Apex Legends and ignoring it:
Me: Let’s go this way.
Me: No.

Players are also recently wishing for another mode without weapons:
