The jabs between Fortnite and Apex Legends continue. Now the Senior Animator “Moy Parra” from Respawn responds to an alleged copy of one of their legends.
This legend was allegedly copied from Fortnite: Fortnite recently added a skin plus set to the item shop. The set is called Crypto and features a “Hacker” dressed in black, white, and green.
The new outfit fits perfectly with the new Season 2 in Fortnite, which revolves around agents.
This is what the Fortnite Crypto looks like:
Actually, this wouldn’t be anything special, but the new skin in Fortnite seems to have some similarities with a legend from Apex Legends.
Crypto, who was introduced with Season 3 in Apex Legends, is also a “Hacker”. The colors green, white, and black are recognizable here as well.

Senior Animator from Respawn jabs at Fortnite
What does Senior Animator Moy Parra mean? The animator from Respawn responded to the tweet where Crypto was introduced in Fortnite.
He said: “I feel like I’ve heard of this guy before, but I just can’t place it.”
With this response, he clearly aims at the Crypto legend from Apex Legends. It seems to be a “hidden” suggestion that Epic has stolen their idea.
Not the first idea that was “stolen” from Apex
That Battle Royale competitors “steal or copy” ideas is nothing new. There are several things where both games have overlaps like:
- the battle pass system, which was introduced first by Fortnite
- the ping system, which was first introduced by Apex Legends
- The reboot vans from Apex Legends
- a new map, where Apex Legends was quicker
The site Dexerto shows a comparison between the vaults of the two games on Twitter:
The competition between Fortnite and Apex Legends seems clearly pronounced. Players also said that Apex quickly responded to the start of new Season 2 in Fortnite by bringing back the old map for a short time.
Whether these ideas were really copied from each other or if they are just coincidences is unclear.
What do you think? Are these coincidences or is it deliberate?
