In Apex Legends, there are several different types of ammunition. A developer has now provided insights into how these types work: In fact, they don’t differ as much as some players thought. However, energy ammunition behaves differently.
What are the differences? The developer Sean Slayback answered some questions about the game on Twitter and also addressed the question about ammunition.
Surprisingly, the types don’t differ as much as assumed. This particularly surprises players who have made a science out of choosing ammunition.
What has been said about the ammunition types
This is what the developer wrote: Slayback was asked three things about the ammunition types on Twitter. The developer answered all of them, sparking discussions.
- Question: I heard that heavy ammunition slows down the opponent. Is that true?
- Answer: All types of ammunition slow down the opponent when you hit them with it
- Question: Is it true that light ammunition weakens the opponent’s shield?
- Answer: Energy ammunition has no extra piercing power against shields
- Question: Does energy ammunition have no bullet drop?
- Answer: Energy ammunition has the highest velocity and is not slowed down
What does that mean? Many players have always come up with specific theories when choosing ammunition. However, the developer’s answers show that there is significantly less behind the types of ammunition in Apex Legends than the legends suggest.
So all ammunition slows the opponent, and no specific ammunition weakens the shield. These findings were previously unknown. Now we have confirmation.
Are there still differences? There are definitely still differences between the ammunition types. They are just not as significant as expected.
The YouTuber “staycation” illustrates in his video how the ammunition types differ:
Have you heard of these leaks?
