For Valentine’s Day, Apex Legends (PC, PS4, Xbox One) brings back the popular “Duo” mode. Players are demanding that it stays forever. And they want a mode for singles too.
What is the Valentine’s Day event? This love celebration event runs from February 11 to February 18 in the shooter Apex Legends. You have a week to take advantage of various bonuses, collect gifts, and play in duos.
These are the bonuses: Those who play now secure a Valentine’s Day 2020 badge.
Additionally, you will receive a strong XP boost that grants you double experience points when you team up with a friend. This is limited to 20,000 XP daily.
New and returning Valentine’s Day items are also expected.

Joy over the duos, should stay permanently
What do the players say? The reactions to the event are positive. Players are happy that the developers are bringing back the duos.
The Duo mode was started by Apex Legends back in November 2019 and was immediately popular. With duos, it is possible to start games with two players instead of having to form a trio as usual.
After the mode had disappeared, players regularly asked when it would return. Now it is finally here, but only for a short time. And that gives a bittersweet flavor to the otherwise positive feedback. On Reddit, they write

- “Fuck Yes. I will play this with my girl. We had so much fun in Gold Rush. I wish they would make it permanent.”
- “Can they stop bringing duos as limited-time modes? Make them permanent and solos too.”
Players even want to start a petition to make Apex Legends keep the duos forever. Some players are taking it humorously. One writes, “Great. Instead of disappointing 2 players, it’s now just one.”
When asked why the duos can’t stay forever, a Reddit user writes:
“One of Respawn’s tasks is to entertain people indefinitely and maintain the longevity of the game. Therefore, they create modes and maps with limited time. So that the game feels new and fresh. If they made everything permanent, players would get bored faster and demand new content, which from a creative standpoint becomes increasingly difficult to implement.”
Singles demand solos – “I am permanently single”
What is being demanded? The duos for Valentine’s Day are being well received, but one group of players apparently feels neglected. Players who are alone for Valentine’s Day. The singles demand that a solo mode be launched.
That is what zzwolfy demands on Reddit and receives a lot of support.
In the comments, other players offer to be the Valentine partner for another single so they can play duos together.
Others sadly write that a solo mode for a limited time is not enough for them, as they will remain single forever.
A solo mode existed in Apex Legends back in August 2019. But it didn’t take long for mean players to exploit it and ruin the mode for others.
