After the recent excitement about the Battle Pass of Apex Legends, the developers Respawn have spoken up. On reddit, they announced that the Battle Pass will not launch today, on March 12th, and reminded the players.
What does Respawn say? In a post on reddit, the developers directly addressed the community and fans of Apex Legends. Already in the title it says: “A little clarity on datamining and Season 1” It is about more official information:
Hello friends,
between the datamining and the unintended update to Season 1 on Origin today, there has been much speculation and confusion. Therefore, we wanted to provide a little clarity:
We will release more details about Season 1, the Battle Pass, and the new legend very soon. However, it will not be today.
Many things have been datamined since the release of Apex Legends and are circulating on the internet. We know it’s fun to dig these things up, but you should not treat such information as a source of truth.
Specifically, it is about the recent leak by Origin itself, which apparently prematurely revealed the new legend Octane and the price of the Battle Pass.
This is what datamining is about: Respawn specifically addresses datamining once again. Fans should probably not put too much value on unconfirmed information, as the game files might still be present for various reasons:
- Content that was cut because it didn’t fit
- Old content that is no longer needed
- Some things that are still in development
Respawn urges fans to dismiss any leaks as rumors and only rely on the official information from the developers.
This is how the community reacts: Most players are disappointed that Season 1 hasn’t started yet. They had expected something to happen today, which ironically is thanks to a leak that mentioned March 12th as the release date.
On the other hand, they thank Respawn for the transparency. Many fans appreciate that the developers at least directly say that they should not expect the update today, March 12th.
What do you think about the update?
Other official news from Respawn are somewhat more positive:
