In Apex Legends there is a very bad weapon that almost everyone hates. Even the developers. To further discriminate against the weapon, they have now changed an animation for it!
Which weapon is it? Those who know Apex Legends also know what a Mozambique is. This does not refer to the African country in the game, but to a mini shotgun that counts as a pistol.
The weapon looks cool with its three barrels, but its stats are extremely bad. It is almost impossible to get proper kills with it, even if you hit with every shot.
Therefore, the weapon has a notoriously bad reputation among players, and often it is left behind even when one would otherwise be unarmed.

A new animation makes you angrily throw away the weapon
What have the developers done? Even the developers find the Mozambique dumb. They have never made a secret of it. The weapon is supposed to be so bad that there is a bad weapon in the game.
Therefore, the developers have allowed themselves a special joke with the weapon. In the last patch 1.2, a new animation was quietly added without mention in the patch notes.
New Mozambique Animation from r/apexlegends
When you switch a weapon in Apex Legends, it is normally just dropped. In the case of the Mozambique, however, your character throws it away with anger and disgust. Your avatar is glad to be rid of this lousy weapon and to have another gun (or nothing at all).
This is how players are reacting: The new animation is extremely well received by fans. In several threads on Reddit, players are applauding this successful joke by the developers:
- “Oh damn, that’s funny!”
- “Throw that trash away as if it were a Fortnite invitation!”
- “I stop and laugh every time that happens!”
A player on Reddit even made a funny meme about it.

The new animation inspires players. On Reddit, someone noted that such could be done with the legends in the game. For example, Bangalore could check the magazine when picking up a weapon, Pathfinder could directly integrate shield batteries, or Lifeline could see some extra syringes in the med kit. There is potential for more individuality.
What do you think about the new animation of the Mozambique? Is it okay to have an intentionally bad weapon in the game, or is it a silly joke at the expense of gameplay?
