The online RPG Anthem is in a strange situation. It has been quiet around the game for a month now. Not even the homepage has been updated with the latest developments: it still states that the Cataclysm is coming in May, which has been postponed for a long time. Fans are now hoping for an event ahead of E3.
This is what the roadmap of Anthem looks like: On the homepage of Anthem everything is still in order.
There is still big announcement for May about “the Cataclysm”. New rewards are also supposed to come in May. This can be read on both the German and the English version of the site.
But fans don’t expect anything from this anymore. BioWare has simply stopped updating the homepage with the latest developments.

This is how it really is: There have been no news from Anthem for more than a month, the Twitter account is silent, and the homepage is probably not being updated anymore.
Over a month ago, at the end of April, Anthem announced that many planned features are being postponed indefinitely.
The 90-day roadmap no longer counts. Things have been postponed such as:
- the Mastery system
- Guilds
- the 2nd phase of the Legendary missions
- Weekly Stronghold challenges
- Leaderboards
- new Freeplay events
- and also the Cataclysm
BioWare wants to use the time to work on an update and will only announce what exactly the update brings when it has more information.
This is so bitter: The Cataclysm was supposed to come in May and be the big event that brings Anthem forward.
It is the feature that most players are waiting for. And BioWare has not even introduced it yet.
Worse: There is currently no indication of when new content will come or what it will look like.
The sad thing is that Anthem seems to be a project that the developers have already given up on. One can’t even find the time to update the homepage.
Hope: EA Play
Is there still hope? The producer of the game Mike Gamble tweeted a few hours ago that Anthem is indeed very much alive. A lot of work is being done, and the team is putting out really good stuff. He believes that the fans will love it.
The fans’ hope now rests on the EA Play event ahead of E3, on June 8.
If BioWare really plans to hold back a “positive surprise” for EA Play, then they are paying a high price for it.
Update 17:07: A new development has occurred in the last hour. BioWare has announced that
- a patch for Anthem will be released today that does not change much, as you will see right away, but lays the groundwork for Cataclysm
- Cataclysm is supposed to be deployed on the new PC test server
- and there will be a live stream tomorrow on Thursday with more information
