Players are currently dissatisfied with the loot in Anthem. Following the feedback, BioWare has now announced an update that is supposed to bring some changes.
What is wrong with the loot in Anthem? Players are currently dissatisfied with the loot in Anthem. This is due to the fact that items cannot be farmed specifically or that the activities hardly justify the value of the loot. Therefore, it is currently more sensible for players to repeat short activities in the game rather than tackle the more difficult and longer strongholds.
As Lead Producer Ben Irving reported in the Anthem subreddit, BioWare has acknowledged player feedback. Among other things, the following issues were raised:
- Some inscriptions on equipment are nonsensical
- Players have to receive multiple identical Masterwork items in order to get one “good” item
- Players wish that Masterwork items drop more often
- They want the functionality of Masterwork inscriptions to be changed so that they are “more useful”
BioWare is planning changes that are expected to take effect with an upcoming update on February 28 or March 1.
A smaller update was already released on February 28, but it is intended to fix other issues.
What is going to change: The update is mainly intended to adjust the inscriptions in Anthem. This includes changes to the drop rates and crafting:
- Inscriptions should now match the items they are on better. This refers to new items, not those currently in your vault.
- Common (white) and uncommon items (green) will be removed from the loot table for pilots with maximum level 30.
- The materials required to craft Masterwork items will be reduced from 25 Ember to 15 Ember.
Reason for the changes: Ben Irving further elaborates in his post on how the inscriptions currently work and how they are intended to function with the update. Currently, there is a large pool of inscriptions, but they are generic. Masterworks have four inscriptions: Major Primary, Minor Primary, Major Secondary, and Minor Secondary.
With the change, the pool of inscriptions is intended to be reduced and related to the respective item. For instance, a pool for assault rifles is now planned, whereas previously there was only a general weapon pool.
Primary inscriptions are now focused on damage or survivability:
- Each item-specific inscription (gear icon) should be beneficial for the item it is on.
- Javelin-wide inscriptions (suit icon) affect overall Javelin damage or survivability.
What do you think about the changes? Can this update satisfy you, or do you wish for further changes?
