With the new update, Anthem has received a new event: The “Season of Skulls”. This Halloween event continues the Cataclysm and apparently does not differ much.
What kind of event is this? On October 16, Anthem received a new update. It was actually assumed that only the Cataclysm would be completely finished now, after it was only unofficially continued.
Instead, Anthem has received a new event called “Season of Skulls” that is supposed to last some time. However, it offers almost the same content as the previously unfinished Cataclysm.
During the event, you will receive a new currency that can be used to purchase the usual crates and items that were also available during the Cataclysm. Only a few seasonal innovations are said to have been added. The currency can be obtained through the almost identical events in Freeplay, which can summon a new but similar boss.
New Event in Anthem – What does it bring?
These innovations are included in the event: Despite the known mechanics, there is a hidden puzzle that you can solve. Fort Tarsis has been decorated with Halloween décor fitting to the event and the season.

This décor also includes skulls scattered throughout the Fort. These serve as the targets for the challenge “Lost in Darkness”. The skulls provide you with hints on locations that you should visit in Freeplay.
If you don’t want to search for them yourself, you can find the locations of all skulls in a post by reddit user Daevin. As a reward for finding them, various helmets are available:

This is how players feel about it: After BioWare scrapped the plans for the future of Anthem, players did not actually expect any innovations in this update. The new event is therefore welcomed by many fans.
However, the fact that only the Cataclysm is being reused leaves a bit of a bad taste. There are no truly new challenges or rewards to keep players engaged. Nevertheless, it feels good that something is happening and that BioWare is not simply silent.
Despite fewer new contents, especially the bug fixes are well received. In the post about the new update on reddit, many users express their joy about the bug fixes and weapon buffs. This is a good start, and what Anthem really needs now is new content in the future.
