Recently, a patch for the demo of Anthem has been released. The update has been launched simultaneously on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Fans are hoping for bug fixes, and they are likely not to be disappointed.
Today, on January 31, a patch for the demo version of the online shooter Anthem has been released. The exact changes brought by the update have not yet been announced. However, there are still a few clues.
What we know so far about the demo patch: The update has already been released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It is not particularly large and should be downloaded quickly by most:
- PC (Origin) – 272MB
- Xbox – ~300MB
- PS4 – 181MB
If you select the update history of the demo in the PlayStation menu, you will at least get a small hint about what the patch is supposed to achieve. The version is called 1.01 and apparently brings “general stability improvements”.
Therefore, it is unclear whether this patch also fixes the numerous other issues that existed with the VIP demo previously. Many found the demo actually great, if it hadn’t been for the catastrophic bugs.
Many often couldn’t even get into the demo as they got stuck on the loading screen. Such fixes are what players wish for.
How the community reacts: Most are happy that developer Bioware has actually released an update for the demo in such a short time. After all, it only took a few days. Most didn’t expect an update anymore.
Swarmjag writes in the Anthem Subreddit:
We should give the Anthem developers a round of applause. I don’t know how many demos have ever received a patch before release […].
Nevertheless, the desire for solutions to issues like the loading screen bug is strong. Many fear that they will be unable to play the demo again due to the bug.
So, they prefer to wait before getting too excited about the update. If the patch does not fix this bug, Dignak wishes that the demo would be extended. Anything else would be “unacceptable”.
But there is hope: For a few days now, more and more Bioware employees have been speaking up. BioWareJer writes on Reddit that they are working around the clock to get the problem under control. The frustration of the players would also be frustrating for the developers, and they are doing everything to ensure it goes smoothly over the weekend.
Additionally, Bioware employee Cameron Dayton spoke up via Twitter. In response to a fan request, they will open the servers for everyone over the weekend, “this time without the ‘fun’ eternal loading screens.”
This is not yet an official confirmation, but it strongly sounds like the problem could be fixed in the open demo.
