With patch 1.1.0, Anthem has now received another update. Here are the most important changes summarized from the patch notes.
This is the new update: Patch 1.1.0 brings several new features and bug fixes. One of the biggest innovations is the new Stronghold “The Sunken Cell”.
When is the update available? The patch is already available for download. Today, on April 23rd, a multi-hour server maintenance took place during which the update was released. The servers are now back online.
How big is the update? The update is around 4 GB on all platforms.
These are the most important changes in summary.
The Sunken Cell – the new Stronghold
What are Strongholds? Strongholds, or fortresses, are larger missions in Anthem. The Sunken Cell is the 4th available and the first Stronghold added afterwards.
When can you play the new Stronghold? The mission is available as soon as you have completed the main story.
Forges and missions can now be activated everywhere
What is changing now: The forge is the menu where players customize their Javelin suits.
Previously, players always had to return to the HUB, Fort Tarsis, to modify their equipment.
With patch 1.1.0, the forge can now be used at any time.
The same applies to mission selection. Previously, you had to finish each mission and return to Fort Tarsis to choose another. This was quite annoying due to loading times.
From now on, you can jump from mission to mission without having to return.
Which areas does this affect? You can now use the forge in all activities:
- missions
- Strongholds
- Freeplay
By the way: Contracts can now be accessed anywhere. You no longer have to run to each NPC to accept corresponding quests.
New universal components
With the new update, there are also 3 new universal components with different properties.
These are the new universal components:
- Extended Sniper Magazine: Adds space for special sniper ammo. Increases base damage by +30%, significantly increases magazine capacity.
- Rapid Hollow Points: Adds space for special semi-automatic pistol and autocannon ammo. Increases base damage by +30%. Also increases damage on weak points of the semi-automatic pistol and autocannon.
- Extended Special Arms Magazine: Adds space for special pistol and grenade launcher ammo. Increases base damage by +30%. Significantly increases magazine capacity for both weapon types.
So these are components with which specific weapon types can be targeted for improvement.
Balance changes
Patch 1.1.0 brings several balance changes that affect both weapons and gear. These mainly involve improved bonuses.
These are some examples:
- Wyvern Blitz (sniper rifle): Bonus increased from +40% to 185%
- Endless War (semi-automatic pistol): Bonus increased from +110% to 145%
- Death from Above (precision rifle): Bonus increased from +65% to +235%
- Serpent’s Veil (Interceptor ability): Bonus increased from +100% to +202.5%.
- Cold-Blooded (Ranger ability): Bonus increased from +235% to +270%.
Many other items and weapons are also affected by these buffs.

There are numerous bug fixes
In addition to the new features and balance changes, there are also some bugs that have been fixed according to the patch notes.
Here is a selection of the biggest fixes:
- A problem was fixed where a Titan’s fireball projectile could hit despite dodging.
- Status elements should now properly expire and not be active longer than the in-game timer indicates.
- A bug was removed where the Storm’s shield in some cases did not receive a resistance bonus when the player was hovering.
- Explosive ammo should now again cause destructible objects to explode as intended.
- The Devastator rifle should now refill normally when you pick up ammo.
- Some text labels have been adjusted.
- Issues with NPCs in Fort Tarsis have been fixed, including animation bugs and many other minor issues.
- Target monsters continue to be displayed as a target even when you move farther away.
- A bug in a world event was fixed where Sentinels disappeared from the battlefield even though they were part of the event.
- Collectibles no longer have to be picked up by each individual player. If you are within 100 meters, you will automatically receive picked-up collectibles.
This is just a small excerpt of the numerous changes that are in the patch. You can find the full list of the patch notes on the official page.
