In the online RPG Anthem , Electronic Arts has now revamped the English-language homepage and outlined a new roadmap. However, this is not well received by players, as it is nearly empty, and the little progress that is mentioned is met with mockery.
This is the situation: In recent days, several gaming sites, including MeinMMO, reported that the roadmap for Anthem is still at the status of February 2019.
The homepage had promised just a few days ago that the Cataclysm event would start in May.
However, BioWare had already overturned the plans for this roadmap a month prior and canceled it: They are working on another update that aims to solve major issues with loot.
For the new update, BioWare has scrapped the previous content plan. The team has not yet provided a schedule to share with the players regarding when these contents will arrive.
BioWare did not even want to discuss the exact contents until the patch is approaching:
- Many once-promised features for Anthem have been postponed indefinitely.
- However, the homepage still showed the status with many promises of what would come to Anthem in April and May.

This has now happened: The English-language homepage with the roadmap of Anthem (via ea.com) has been radically revised. Now only the little additional content that is already in the game is visible:
- Legendary Missions
- Fixes, optimizations, and improvements
- Challenges
- weekly alliance missions
- and the refresh of a vendor

No further content can be discerned on the page, no target specifications, no month names, nothing.
Scrolling down the roadmap, players only see “locked symbols” for Act 2 and 3. The roadmap on the homepage no longer shows any content.
How does it look on the German homepage of Anthem? It remains unchanged. It still states that the Cataclysm begins in May 2019.

This is being discussed: In general reddit/Games, where all players are talked about, the new roadmap for Anthem was the biggest topic there on Saturday morning our time.
But here, Anthem has long been a symbol of everything going wrong in gaming. For months, ridicule, schadenfreude, and mockery have poured over Anthem, just like in the previous months over Fallout 76.
There is a torrent of mockery and ridicule over the new roadmap:
- A roadmap that consists of “fixes, improvements, and optimizations” is just really bad.
- Another person quips that the roadmap should rather indicate when the servers will go down.
In Anthem’s own subreddit, where players gather, the criticism is no milder:
- A freelancer says: If you have to list a “vendor refresh,” you are probably grasping at straws.

What’s behind it: BioWare is sticking to the course it has taken: They want to introduce updates only when they are ready. Therefore, it was actually only consistent to adjust the roadmap like this – BioWare or EA should have done this better already 30 days ago when they communicated the plan changes and were criticized for it.
So BioWare is now getting flack twice for the same decision.
At the moment, BioWare and EA can likely only lose, no matter what they do, because every action has a negative external effect.
Nothing significant has changed in the situation of Anthem in recent weeks – recently, BioWare had presented their plans for how to proceed with Anthem.
All of this will take time, and during this time, criticism and mockery will continue to pour down on BioWare and Anthem.
