Will Anthem soon get a text chat? Data miners have researched the current game data and found new hints for such a feature.
What feature do players want? Since the release of Anthem, especially PC players have been wondering why the title does not have a text chat. In some posts on the Anthem subreddit, users have already discussed that it is actually incomprehensible that a PC game nowadays relies solely on voice chat.
Players consider the feature essential: Especially one post from a mute player has touched the freelancers. About a month ago, the player Nyhmzy reported that he is mute and therefore cannot use the voice chat. He mainly plays on PC because most games on this platform would have text chat.
However, Anthem does not have this. Nyhmzy had the same problem with Fallout 76, which also had no text chat on PC. Players have become angry because the user did not respond with his voice.
The post received an incredible amount of support and has now collected over 49,000 upvotes.
What was found? The data miners from Anthem Archive recently researched the current game data of Anthem. They not only came across new items but also a small hint for a possible text chat.

Some data strings are labeled with “Textchat” and could indicate this feature. However, this information should be taken with caution: Just because these text strings are in the game data does not mean that the feature will be released soon.
Why is there no text chat? BioWare stated in several posts and via Twitter that they must consider various input options when implementing the text chat. However, this would also increase costs.
The developers are keeping an eye on demand and have other ideas for facilitating communication, such as commands like “Follow me” or “Gather.”
By the way, there is hardly any communication in Anthem’s social hub either.
On Reddit, it is assumed that the developers referring to the various input options mean the “Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA)”, which fully came into force on December 31, 2018. This law requires that all communication functions and the interface used to navigate them be accessible to persons with a variety of conditions.
