The community of Anthem is already divided into two camps before the release. The culprit? Seemingly harmless little creatures called Klauninchen.
The situation is serious; the debate in the Anthem community is huge. The players have so far appeared to be harmonious, but when it comes to Klauninchen, the fun just stops.
What are Klauninchen? The colorful beings hop through the biotope of Anthem. They have notably large, colorful antennae on their heads and seem rather shy.
Klauninchen are about the size of a dog and are a crazy mix of squirrel, fox, lizard, and moth. They are even kept as pets, but they’re suspected of stealing things and hoarding them. Hence the name: Klau-ninchen.
Anyone approaching the little creatures too quickly with their Javelin startles them and sends them running. Those who approach them carefully soon hear a cooing and can observe as the Klauninchen roll onto their backs and curl up.
Protect or slaughter? That is the question
Some find Klauninchen just adorable: Many have taken Klauninchen directly into their hearts. They wouldn’t harm a single antenna on these creatures. These players even wish for a feature that allows them to pet the Klauninchen.
Others see Klauninchen as the spawn of hell: The other faction sees nothing cute in Klauninchen at all. These players simply do not trust them. They only see the octopus beak on the face of the Klauninchen. This is also lined with razor-sharp, pointed teeth. They wonder: How can one not find that creepy?

This is the conflict:
- Some are now hunting Klauninchen and slaughtering them. During the VIP demo, over 2 million Klauninchen already lost their lives.
- Klauninchen friends cannot endure these mass slaughters. They want to save the creatures from their slaughterers.
Developers warn about Klauninchen
Will the Klauninchen seek revenge? The conflict has, of course, not gone unnoticed by BioWare. After it became known that more than 2 million Klauninchen were slaughtered in the VIP demo, lead producer Gamble tweeted: “Maybe one day the Klauninchen (Grabbits) will rise.
Fans are now speculating that BioWare is preparing for a gigantic Klauninchen boss fight. Some even believe that a Klauninchen boss will be the surprise of the open demo on Sunday.
Which side are you on?
Of course, we want to know which side the MeinMMO community stands on in the great Klauninchen conflict (here’s where to go for the survey, if you don’t see it):
Feel free to let us know in the comments what you think about Klauninchen. Can these creatures be trusted?
