The latest update to Anthem brings the last week of the Halloween event “Season of Skulls”. The game is ramping up for this one. New content is also on the horizon.
This is what’s in the update: With the new update from November 19, Anthem brings back all bosses from previous weeks of the Season of Skulls. All arenas are also open. Additionally, two new inversions are active:
- Broken Magazine: Weapons have no spare ammunition, but enemies drop ammo
- Running on Empty: The last shot in a magazine briefly increases damage
You now have until November 26 to complete all challenges from the past weeks. In the store, you can spend the last of your seasonal currency, as it will disappear afterwards.
An a new story has also been released. You can find the full changes and patch notes in English on the official page.
Is the Winter Event coming now?
This is what the next event looks like: The next winter event, Icetide, was already tested on the PTR. This event will cover Bastion in a thick blanket of snow and bring new activities and content:
- two strongholds with new modifications
- a winter look
- Snow globe storms everywhere in freeplay
For speed enthusiasts, there is also the “Freelancer Time Trial”, in which you should complete a course with your Javelin in the shortest time possible. You will likely compete against other freelancers with your time.
You can find the first insights into the Icetide event in our article.
When is the event coming? In the official announcement of the patch, the Icetide event was already teased. However, no date has been provided yet.
The Season of Skulls started on the same day the previous Cataclysm ended. It is therefore quite possible that the season will flow seamlessly into Icetide and that the winter event will start on November 26.
The future of Anthem
This is what’s still happening: The Icetide event is not the only thing expected for Anthem in the future. According to insiders, BioWare is working on “Anthem 2.0.” This aims to completely overhaul the game in terms of
- missions
- loot
- game world

It is still unclear what exactly will change or how it will happen. However, the developers seem determined to “save” Anthem with 2.0:
