BioWare will adjust the speed in Fort Tarsis for the launch of Anthem. Many fans were dissatisfied with the character’s running speed within the city.
The city of Fort Tarsis is the refuge of the Freelancers. Parts of the story take place there, where players can accept missions, shop, and customize their Javelins and launch them. Players can move freely in the designated areas of the city – and that in first-person view.

This is what bothered the players in the city: When players were exploring the city during the VIP demo, many were frustrated not only by numerous bugs but also by the slow running speed of the character. The character could only move at a walking pace through the city. There was no sprint option.
Especially players who just wanted to jump into their Javelin as quickly as possible or explore the city were annoyed. After logging in, there was no way around the tedious slow walk through the city at a snail’s pace. In numerous Reddit threads, players voiced their frustrations.
This will change at launch: BioWare has listened to the players’ feedback and will make an adjustment for the launch of Anthem on February 22. It will then be possible to sprint in the city.
This fulfills a major wish of many fans. Although this was not a bug, many players found the slow walking pace to be extremely annoying and unnecessary.

This is why players felt so slow: When announcing this change, BioWare explained why players had to feel like they were crawling in Fort Tarsis.
It was apparently a deliberate design decision. The intention was for players to feel weak without the exosuit. This was to highlight the difference between the Javelin with Iron-Man feel and an ordinary person.
The curious thing is: There was apparently already a sprint level in an earlier version of Anthem. However, for some reason, the function was not included in the specific build from which the VIP demo was created. However, this function will return in the final game, according to BioWare’s General Manager Casey Hudson.
What do you think of this change? Did you also find it too slow in the city?
