In Anthem, some equipment has the value “Luck”. How much the Luck stat actually brings and whether you really need this value for more loot is currently being discussed in the community.
What is Luck in Anthem? Luck is a value in Anthem that players can find on various pieces of equipment. The value itself is always indicated on the gear with a percentage.
If multiple pieces of your equipment have Luck, the respective percentages are added together and represent the total value.
What does the value provide? According to Anthem’s Lead Producer, Ben Irving, Luck is supposed to increase the chance of receiving items of a higher rarity level. So if you have a high Luck value, you should also have a higher chance of finding rare gear.
It would function similarly to the “Magic Find” value from the times of Diablo. Players even created their own gear sets filled with this value to farm loot more effectively.

Does Luck really work? Whether the value really has an effect and holds true to what Irving promises is currently being critically discussed in the Anthem community. For instance, user Barradoor created a table in the Anthem subreddit, where he documented different farming routes with varying Luck.

According to the table, the Luck value seems to have little influence on the loot found. For instance, Barradoor received Masterwork gear with 27% Luck, while he found nothing with 81% and 101% Luck. According to the user, 99 or 100% Luck works best, and anything above that is “terrible”.
The player MrSiippyfist also conducted tests on Reddit with the Luck value and came to a similar conclusion after several attempts on Grandmaster 1 difficulty. He hunted 100 Ursix with three different Luck setups and believes that Luck does not affect the drop chance of legendary items. Additionally, a value below 100% Luck is said to be the most lucrative.
Other players believe that finding good equipment is likely less about the Luck value and more about general luck in the game.

What do players say? Some players are calling on Reddit for the Luck value to be removed from equipment parts. In their opinion, no one should be forced to compromise their favorite build for a chance at better items. The same is being requested for the harvest bonus.
In another post, a player points out that Guild Wars 2 had a similar system but removed this value. Players can now increase their Luck with essences.
In Diablo 3, the drop chances are also increased differently: There, the value depends on how many people you play with and at what difficulty level.
