How long is the playtime of Anthem if you rush through the main story? The developers keep dodging this question. It’s hard to compare, but it’s a lot.
Anthem is BioWare’s “next big thing” and the first attempt to establish a co-op shooter that is already frequently compared to Destiny. But since BioWare is primarily known for story-driven games with great depth, players keep asking: How long is the playtime of Anthem?
Developers dodge the question: However, the developers do not want to give a specific answer to this critical question and only make vague statements. Michael Gamble from the development team commented on this:
“That’s a good question, but it’s hard to answer. Everyone is different. There are a lot of side missions, but some just want to rush through the main story and then tackle strongholds. Still, it’s a lot. Personally, I’ve only played through everything a few times.”
Ben Irwing, on the other hand, says that Anthem is difficult to compare with Mass Effect or Dragon Age, and therefore they “do not really comment on the length of the main path. It depends on how you play the game, etc.”
BioWare does not specify playtime for Anthem
Fans’ skepticism awakened: Such statements tend to fuel the skepticism of fans. In other games, like Mass Effect, the developers usually provided estimates in advance of how many hours players might spend in the game and how long they themselves had played.
However, it is possible that more accurate information about the scope will follow before the release. So far, the information has been rather sparse.
Anthem will be released next month, specifically on February 22, 2019.
