A patch for the demo of Anthem has recently been released. What exactly it fixed was initially unclear. However, it has now been confirmed that a major issue with the loading screen has been fixed.
On January 31, a small demo patch for Anthem was released for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The patch was relatively small, and there are no official patch notes available yet.
Nevertheless, the community speculated eagerly, and many signs pointed to the fact that one of the many catastrophic issues of the VIP demo was fixed, as the open demo starts on February 1. Developer Bioware has now officially confirmed that at least one major issue with the loading screen is said to be fixed.
No more eternal loading screen in the open demo
Here’s what the demo patch fixes: Many participants of the VIP demo had problems getting into the game at all. When logging into the server, the loading screen often got stuck just before finishing, and this error is often called “infinite loading screen”.
Some were affected more severely than others. However, those who were hit hard could sometimes not participate in the demo at all. The patch that was recently released is said to have fixed this problem.
This is what Bioware itself says about it: They recognized the problem on January 26 and directly developed a fix in the days following, which has now been deployed to the servers. Brennon Holmes, technical design director of Anthem, wrote in the official Bioware forum:
We identified a major issue […], prepared a fix on Saturday, tested everything on Sunday and Monday, and then it went through the certification process. There are also a few other fixes intended to help stabilize the game should further issues arise.
Nevertheless, errors may occur as it is an older build and there is not enough time to fix everything. But the worst should be fixed.
As compensation for the issues, something “cool” has already been announced for a day of the demo .
This is what’s included in the demo: From today, February 1 at 6 PM, you can play the open demo of Anthem until February 3. You will get an impression of the story, side, and endgame activities. You can test two of the total four Javelins. If you participated in the VIP demo, you can even try all four Javelins.
