Anthem will not offer a PvP mode at launch. A player has now mentioned some reasons on Reddit why the absence of PvP can be positive for the game.
This is what it’s about: The developers of Anthem have already confirmed that the shooter will not include a PvP mode at release. Whether a competitive multiplayer will follow depends entirely on community feedback, according to BioWare.
In the Anthem subreddit, player MaxDetroit has now presented his reasons for why the lack of PvP is not a problem for him, but actually an advantage for the game. The post received over 3,800 upvotes in just four hours.
Here are his reasons
MaxDetroit states that he is not a fan of PvP himself. However, he believes there are additional reasons against competitive multiplayer.
Reason 1: Balancing. It is much easier to balance a weapon or a Javelin for just one mode rather than for both PvE and PvP. This way, Anthem will never face the problems of a skill or weapon being too strong or too weak simply because they were too powerful or too weak in one mode.
Actually, BioWare could completely avoid nerfs without PvP and focus on buffing weaker weapons. After all, the freelancers are playing together, not against each other.
Reason 2: Splitting the community. Like other games, the community in Anthem would be split into two factions: players who enjoy PvP and those who do not. Furthermore, no one would be forced into PvP if they do not want to.
This problem exists, for example, in Destiny 2, where PvE players hate being forced into PvP.
Additionally, developers would not have to worry about fair matchmaking, different queues, or specific quests for PvP.
Reason 3: Toxicity. According to MaxDetroit, pure PvE games often have a friendlier community than PvP games or those that offer both. Thus, the absence of PvP in Anthem could lead to a more welcoming fan community in the game and its associated forums.

In the subreddit, the player base is divided over the absence of PvP in Anthem. While MaxDetroit’s post has many supporters, some players hold a different opinion.
For instance, there are players who do not want to play Anthem without a PvP mode. Others have doubts about whether the shooter can remain motivating over a longer period without PvP.
It seems that the readers of MeinMMO feel similarly: In our survey conducted in December 2018, the majority of you opposed PvP in Anthem. Of the approximately 1,400 participants, over 72% were against a PvP mode in BioWare’s shooter.
