Anthem has announced its plans for the next three months. We provide an overview of the plans and what players can expect in the future.
The live service begins: After the rocky release of Anthem, the game is now officially in live service. This means that BioWare intends to continuously deliver updates, patches, and new content to expand and keep the game fresh.
To this end, BioWare has announced a roadmap that presents players with the plans for the next 90 days. We provide you with an overview of everything that is coming your way in the next three months.
Roadmap for Act 1 – What’s coming in the next 90 days
While it is already known which content is expected to be released in which month, specific dates are not currently available. We will, of course, add these as soon as they are published.
Are the contents paid? No. These are regular updates and not DLCs. Furthermore, all future story content will be free.
February 2019
Since Anthem was only released worldwide on all platforms on February 22, there hasn’t been much time for large events or updates. Therefore, there have only been events that took place in freeplay.
This is the plan for February:
- Event: “Outlaw Outrage”
- Freeplay, already finished.
- Event: “Giant Task”
- Freeplay, already finished.
- Event: “Shaper Surge”
- Freeplay, date unknown
Additionally, a new update has recently been announced that is supposed to improve the loot of Anthem. The patch is expected to be released either on February 28 or March 1.
March 2019
These contents are planned: In March, new content will begin rolling out. Along with new items, the first Legendary missions will be released. These are story missions that can be replayed on the highest difficulty levels.
Additionally, with the “Elysian Stronghold” caches, there will be new rewards in the form of cosmetic items waiting for you in the strongholds after the boss fight. You can read all known information about the chests in our summary.
This is the plan for March:
- Rewards: New items
- New missions: Legendary missions – Phase 1
- New freeplay event (name unknown)
- New cosmetic items: “Elysian Stronghold Caches”
- Freeplay event: “Giant Task”
- Freeplay event: “Outlaw Outrage”
April 2019 “Stronger together”
These contents are planned: April will bring guilds and leaderboards as well as more legendary missions and large world events. Additionally, the fourth stronghold “The Sunken” will be introduced.
Furthermore, a feature called Mastery System is planned. What exactly it will entail is currently unknown. Apparently, it will be an advanced progression system.
This is the plan for April:
- Mastery System
- Rewards: New items
- More new freeplay events
- Freeplay event: Shaper Surge
- New missions: Legendary missions – Phase 2
- New stronghold: “The Sunken Cell”
- Social Play:
- Weekly Stronghold Challenge
- Leaderboards
- Guilds
May 2019 “Cataclysm”
These contents are planned: In May, large world events called Cataclysms will begin, which are intended to shake up the game. Cataclysms are large natural events caused by the Anthem of Creation.
Cataclysms are said to even be capable of creating new life and influencing gravity. Essentially, anything can happen due to the Anthem of Creation, or at least that’s how it is conveyed in the story. How exactly this will unfold in May is still uncertain.
Once again, there will be events, missions, and new items. It may take some time before more detailed information becomes available.
This is the plan for May:
- Freeplay events
- New missions
- Rewards: New items
The summary of the roadmap can also be seen in the video by YouTuber Arekkz:
More content planned
This roadmap is only the beginning. For the future, BioWare has already envisioned several larger features:
- like new Javelins, which will definitely be coming in the future
- more stronghold dungeons
- “aspirational content”, meaning content that can be played in larger groups, such as raids
- more large world events, similar to those on the map in Fortnite
- crossplay, which is still a topic and concern for BioWare
Thus, much is still in the making for the future. It will be interesting to see how Anthem progresses.
Why March will be important is explained by our author Leya:
