The Chinese company NetEase has announced a new MMORPG called Project Ragnarök. The story is based on Norse mythology and the developers plan to integrate interesting features.
What is Project Ragnarök? The new MMORPG from NetEase places you in a massive, open world. The story tells of Ragnarök, the end of the world. The gods of Norse mythology fall from the sky, and the survivors must rebuild the world.
There are no details about the game yet, so it is unclear whether you will take on the role of a god or play another being. From the video about Project Ragnarök, it appears that you at least possess supernatural powers and can fly.
NetEase is also known as the developer of the mobile RPG Diablo Immortal.
What makes this MMORPG special? According to NetEase, the game will not feature the typical repeatable daily tasks. Instead, the developers want to delight you with special challenges. However, it is still unclear what these will look like. These challenges are supposed to bring more variety than the always-same, repeatable tasks of other MMORPGs.
Also interesting is the game world. It should be possible to reach almost anywhere. For example, if you see a mountain in the distance, you can climb it. It will be possible to climb similar to the Assassin’s Creed games.
Additionally, there will be a dynamic weather system, which is supposed to make the game world feel more realistic.
What other features does the online game offer? Pets play a big role. You can tame animals in the wild and use them as companions. This way, you can even acquire mounts.
Furthermore, NetEase wants to impress with great musical accompaniment. The soundtrack is composed by Inon Zur, who has composed music for games like Dragon Age, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Prince of Persia, and Lineage 2.
When and for which platforms will Project Ragnarök be released? A release date has not yet been announced. It is also unclear when the beta phase will begin. However, NetEase intends to release the MMORPG globally. It is therefore not only planned for the Asian market.
The developers stated that Project Ragnarök will be released for PC, console, and mobile devices. However, which consoles exactly, whether PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X, is still unclear.
