This year could see the next game announcement from Rockstar. An analyst says that a game for 2020 will be revealed in 2019. Two candidates are speculated: a new Bully or GTA 6.
What happened? Analyst Michael Pachter has made his predictions for the gaming industry in 2019. He says that Overwatch and the BR mode “Blackout” from Black Ops 4 will become free-to-play.
After the success of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar will announce the next title this year, says Pachter.
GTA 6, Bully 2? What will Rockstar bring in 2020?
This is what Rockstar has done recently:
- In October 2018, Rockstar Games released the Western adventure Red Dead Redemption 2.
- In November, the multiplayer launched in a beta phase.
- How Rockstar plans to supply Red Dead Online 2019 with content, they explained now.
What’s next for Rockstar Games? Pachter suspects that Rockstar Games will announce a new game in 2019, which will then be released in 2020.
The analyst did not specify what kind of game it would be. However, there are a few possibilities that the community speculates about.
Bully 2: Alleged concept art for Bully 2 appeared about 2 years ago. Shortly after, anonymous sources linked to Rockstar leaked that Bully 2 was the next game from Rockstar after Red Dead Redemption 2 was released.
There were also rumors about a casting for possible roles in Bully 2 circulating. So that would be one possibility.
GTA 6: The community has been speculating about the successor to GTA 5 for a long time. With GTA Online Rockstar makes a lot of money, so a next title in this series has to come eventually.
There was already a leak in March 2018. GTA 6 is said to come in 2022, with a female lead in Vice City. However, there was already the first setback regarding that. In October 2018, Dan Houser from Rockstar Games said they were glad that they are not making GTA 6 right now – because of the Trump era.
Other possibilities: It is just as possible that Rockstar Games is working on a new IP. A title that has not existed before.
Can we trust the analyst? Perhaps the analyst is wrong, and Rockstar will not announce any game for 2020 this year. Last year, Pachter correctly predicted that Call of Duty would get a battle royale mode and that Rockstar would not make any big game announcements.
However, he incorrectly predicted that a Mobile World of Warcraft would be announced.
This fits with a new announcement: On the careers page of Rockstar Games, they are already actively looking for employees for future titles with new technology.
For GTA Online, Rockstar has now introduced a type of weapon that fans are not satisfied with.
