Batman, along with Spider-Man, is probably the most popular superhero of all time. In many movies, some of his villains have already been seen. However, one has always been overlooked, even though he has been around since 1940. Now, there is finally going to be a movie featuring him, and even a horror expert is involved.
Which villain are we talking about? As Variety reports, a movie about Clayface is in the works. The villain is one of the oldest to confront Batman, having been around since 1940. He made his first appearance in Detective Comics #40.
After the Penguin series, this is the second villain project from DC Studios. James Gunn is now overseeing the DC film and television universe. Recently, the animated series Creature Commando was released in the USA.
The writer of the Clayface film is set to be Mike Flanagan, who is known for Netflix horror series. He directed Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House, and wrote the screenplays for nearly all his projects.
As Deadline reports, Flanagan expressed his interest in a Clayface film as early as 2021. He wanted to take it in the direction of horror, thriller, and tragedy.

Who is Clayface anyway? The original Clayface had no powers and was the well-known actor Basil Karlo, who went insane after a remake of his old horror film was announced, but he was not to be involved. As a serial killer, he killed crew members until Batman and Robin stopped him.
Later, he transformed into the monster-like Clayface due to a chemical incident, gaining superhuman abilities in the process. His main feature is his clay-like form, which allows him to not only shape his limbs into weapons but also change his appearance. With a sprinkle of DNA, he can transform into other people.
This is a wonderful combination with his acting abilities. This allows him to disguise himself quite effectively and pass off as other individuals.
In more recent stories, Clayface is often portrayed as an anti-hero who also helps people.
Clayface has had various appearances outside of comics in cartoons, series, and games, but he still lacks a big screen appearance. As a failed actor and due to his appearance, the character has enough potential to work as a thriller or horror film.
