The gas canisters in Call of Duty: Warzone are usually considered more of a nice gimmick rather than a useful gameplay element. But the underestimated explosives can do more than they seem – because they enjoy “elevator rides”.
The usual problem: you stand in front of a zipline in Call of Duty: Warzone and already know exactly what awaits you at the top. The muzzle of a smirking camper.
One team member tries it anyway. The zipline is long, the ride up feels like it takes forever. The second team member loses their nerves. Even before “Dead Player 1” reaches the top, number 2 also signs their death warrant.
As the only survivor, you stand below shaking your head and forcing a maniacal “YOLO” out of your face. “Click” – grab the zipline and together, decorate opponents with sprays in the Gulag.

Gas canisters and ziplines work together
How does it work? A little-known mechanic in Warzone allows the gas canister to shoot up via zipline. As seen in this reddit clip:
Your operator ignites the canister, clamps it onto the zipline, and the explosive is already on its way. In the video, the thread creator “LegoManPro” blows one of the “redeploy balloons” into the air.
This also works with all other ziplines that lead up. However, the canisters do not want to go down – that leads directly to a gas explosion.
The explosion of the canister temporarily disrupts enemies at the top and even leaves you a smoke cloud for cover. If enemies are directly at the end of the zipline, they also take a heavy hit from the explosion.
The damage can be further increased if you combine it with a Claymore:
The next time you don’t trust a zipline, clamp the canister on and ride 2 seconds later. There’s no guarantee of survival, but the odds are significantly better.
Warzone has many small mechanics that can save your butt in the right situation. Experiment, forget the standard pattern, and always think about how to stay one step ahead of your enemies during the match.
