A Japanese senior care home hosted a Tekken tournament. The 73-year-old winner felt her way to becoming the Iron Fist Queen was a bit too easy.
Which organization hosted the tournament? The Care Esports Association from Japan hosts gaming events in senior care homes. Their goal is to give older residents a chance to experience competitive multiplayer gaming while also promoting mental stimulation and social activities (primetimer.com).
In June 2025, Care Esports hosted a Tekken tournament at the Amigos Club senior care home. The entire event was streamed on YouTube (YouTube.com).
Who is the winner? The 73-year-old Yoshie Murabe managed to take out her old competition and was celebrated as the tournament winner and Iron Fist Queen. In an interview with GameSpark, she revealed that she chose Panda as her main because she loves pandas (thegamer.com).
In the end, she said, like a true gamer: “I was happy to have won. It didn’t feel particularly difficult.” Which translates to: GG EZ.

A real tournament like the pros
What was special about the event? Besides the obvious uniqueness of being held in a senior care home, there were two real casters for the games, who commented on every matchup. Furthermore, each participant received a player profile, just like in major esports events.
