An open-world game from 2017 is reportedly the best-selling game of a PlayStation studio and even surpasses God of War.
Which game is it? With a total of 24.30 million units sold (as of April 16, 2023), the open-world game Horizon: Zero Dawn is reportedly the best-selling game of a PlayStation studio. This puts it ahead of games like God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Uncharted 4, and The Last of Us.
The title developed by Guerrilla Games was released on February 28, 2017, for PS4 and on August 07, 2020, for Windows PC, set in a post-apocalyptic future where human civilization has long since collapsed.
You take on the role of the protagonist Aloy, who was cast out by her tribe and fights for survival in a world dominated by robotic creatures while seeking answers.

Where does the information come from? As our French colleagues from millenium.org report, the information comes from the hack in which countless information from the developer studio Insomniac Games (Marvel’s Spider-Man) was stolen and leaked.

How reliable are the figures? There are several reasons why the figures should be taken with caution.
On the one hand, the information comes from a leak. The sales figures have not been officially shared with the public by Sony/PlayStation or the respective studios. Therefore, there is no guarantee for the accuracy of the information.
Furthermore, the figures are not up-to-date. Behind each title on the list is a date indicating that the mentioned sales figures were achieved up to that date. In the case of Horizon: Zero Dawn, that date is April 16, 2023. The figures for God of War date back to January 31, 2023.
It is therefore very likely that since then, more units sold for the various games have been added. This could already have changed the order of the best-selling games. God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man are within reach to dethrone Horizon: Zero Dawn.
