Destiny 2 surprises players in Season 15 with a fusion rifle that many might not even know. Cartesian Coordinates is suddenly at the top of the DPS tests. We show you why and how to get the old weapon.
This is the old weapon: The legendary fusion rifle Cartesian Coordinates originally came out in 2017 but was re-released in early 2021 (Season 13). DPS tests now show that this inconspicuous weapon outperforms the current meta exotics and takes down raid bosses faster.
MeinMMO shows you how to farm the weapon quickly and precisely in the ongoing Season of the Lost. We also clarify what suddenly makes an old, legendary fusion rifle so powerful and why the exotics are envious.
What makes the fusion rifle so strong now? The newly discovered power lies both in the weapon and its special properties. But it also comes from the fact that it is not an exotic. How well everything fits together is surprisingly shocking players now.
Cartesian Coordinates benefits first from the seasonal changes for all fusion rifles. The rework of the class allows the fast-firing variants to deal somewhat more damage and gives them more shots per burst. On top of that, the most important new mod from your artifact comes: Particle Deconstruction.
Cartesian Coordinates is now the only rapid-fire fusion that can feature Vorpal Weapon – that means simply 15% more damage against bosses. The weapon reloads faster automatically during important damage phases once your magazine is emptied.
Unlike exotics, the legendary weapon can still equip a mod. Exactly! With Boss Spec, you gain an additional 7.5% extra damage. Finally, it’s worth mentioning that you simply need to shoot with the weapon – no big precision or complicated weapon swaps.
We summarize the strengths of Cartesian Coordinates:
- Vorpal Weapon for extra damage
- Mod from legendary weapons for extra damage
- Automatic quick reload in boss fights
- Seasonal adjustments and mods that make all fusion rifles extremely strong
DPS test shows surprising numbers in the Season of the Lost
Many content creators (see sources) are currently comparing the new insider tip Cartesian Coordinates and confirming the strong DPS numbers.
We show you here exemplarily the test of the well-known YouTuber Rick Kackis, who proves that even real meta exotics can hardly keep up:
This is what the DPS comparison looks like: In the video, the Templar from the latest raid “Glass Chamber” is shot at as a lab rat. All weapons were tested with the seasonal Particle Deconstruction mod and fired from a well (with Bubble Buff).
- Cartesian Coordinates: 16 seconds
- Disbelief: 18.8 seconds (with enlarged magazine trick)
- 1000 Voices: 21 seconds
- Sleeper Simulant: 24 seconds
- Witherhoard + Needle’s Eye: 22 seconds – where it’s said in the test that with practice, you could become a bit faster
If you are serious about it, additionally using the mod and the Titan Bubble, plus an arrow and other endgame tricks, you can get a Templar kill in about 11 seconds with Cartesian Coordinates.
Keep in mind that damage against other bosses varies, as for example damage phases can be shorter or longer. However, all methods outlined here are really strong and meta in Season 15.
This is the magazine trick of Disbelief
This is how it works: First, you select the perk “Backup Mag” so you have a magazine of 8 shots (instead of 6), then select the perk below for the fight: “Enhanced Reserves.” This way, the last shots of the larger magazine deal significant bonus damage.
How to get Cartesian Coordinates in Season 15 of Destiny 2 with Vorpal Weapon
This is how you quickly farm the fusion rifle: Are you now really excited to try out the old fusion rifle Cartesian Coordinates yourself? We have good news. You can acquire the weapon very specifically and several times per minute.
- Visit H.E.L.M. directly above the Tower with some Umbral Engrams in your inventory.
- Prisma-Umformer (the machine right at spawn) and go right to “Umbral Engram Focusing.”
- Select “Season of the Splicer” under “Past Seasons” on the left.
- In the middle row, you will see the focusing “Shocktrooper” – here, there is a 50% chance of getting the fusion rifle Cartesian Coordinates.
- Repeat the process until you have Cartesian Coordinates with Vorpal Weapon in the second slot. Ideally, you also have a magazine increase like
If you have not yet obtained the focusing for your Prisma-Umformer, you only have to complete the Triumph “Shocktrooper” from Season 14 – so you need to have run 50 Lost Sectors since then (No, not necessarily on Legendary, normal counts too). This can be done quite quickly in the northeast of the EDC.
Would you have thought that an old fusion rifle is now dealing so hard in Season 15 and sometimes harder than the strongest exotics? What do you think about such DPS tests, do you need every inch in the damage meter, or do you also play in raids with what you enjoy?
If you raid diligently, you are currently being rewarded well in Destiny 2: Vex Mythoclast was useless and is now the best weapon in the game
