What kind of MMORPG is it? The medieval MMORPG “Gloria Victis” launched in 2016 as an Early Access title on Steam, but only celebrated its official release in February 2023. However, 8 months later it was already over: Gloria Victis was closed again for financial reasons.
Moreover, the team was reportedly exhausted and unable to support the game anymore. Now they want to bring the game back with a new publisher.

How is the game coming back now? In a detailed post on Steam, the developers explained that Gloria Victis will be making a comeback as a free-to-play game: They have teamed up with Black Eye and publisher Gamigo to be able to re-release the game. Gamigo has taken over the license for the game.
However, the publisher is controversial among players and not everyone is excited: Because Gamigo is known for buying MMORPGs like collectibles. Often, this leads to more problems and heavy monetization, and that is something some are warning about. User Ac3 writes on Steam:
Any other company would have been better. It is hard to believe the statement “no pay-to-win,” as every game bought by Gamigo ultimately ends up being exactly that.
How Gloria Victis plans to finance itself as a free-to-play title remains to be seen. The post emphasizes that the game is “essentially about skill-based combat” and “should not be pay-to-win,” yet a game still needs to be monetized. How exactly this will be done was not specified in the post.
When Gloria Victis will celebrate its re-release is also not known yet.
