What is this item? The “White Dress” is a white dress in the cult MMORPG Tibia (1997). The dress has no stats or any special ability. The only special thing about the item: there is only one White Dress.
Item introduced to celebrate a special wedding in the MMORPG
The item “White Dress” is something of a legend in Tibia. The dress apparently appeared in 2002 or 2003 in the MMORPG (via tibiamysteries). It was created as a wedding gift: Two game masters entered into matrimony. The White Dress served as the wedding gown.
One of the game masters, a princess from Australia, is considered the first owner of the White Dress.
The exciting part was that this item then only sporadically appeared for the next 17 years when it was offered for sale somewhere. For a long time, the White Dress was considered lost. It was suspected that a collector bought it for a high price in 2017 and had since stored it somewhere.
What is the item worth? Now the “White Dress” has resurfaced. Someone donated the item to a guild, which was then able to auction it at an event. The guild “Red Rose” celebrated its 22nd birthday in the MMORPG Tibia.
As reported on reddit, the item was auctioned for 2kkk, which is 2 billion GP – the currency of the game. This corresponds to a black market value of €5,500 if one were to acquire the in-game currency for real money, as the Polish site mmorpg.org.pl states.
