The Battle Royale Warzone is getting the graphics engine from the new Call of Duty: Vanguard by the end of the year. This is likely to bring many gameplay elements of the new CoD to Warzone. A small change in movement could then have a significant impact on how we move around in the Battle Royale.
What is it about? The change with Call of Duty: Vanguard involves a slight delay in tactical sprinting after a slide cancel. So far, you could, with a trick in Warzone, go straight back into tactically sprinting after sliding.
The professional trick is widely used in the community and is heavily utilized to move faster and more safely across the map. However, with the Vanguard technique, the speed advantage might be a thing of the past, which could significantly change the movement.
Run faster or be harder to hit – What is more important?
Why is this such a big deal? The slide cancel is an extremely powerful technique in Warzone and is widely used.
This is because by constantly moving, you realign your hit zones on your body. Snipers can hardly land headshots on you because your head is constantly moving. Additionally, you are a bit faster in Warzone when you dash across the map with the slide cancel.
Moreover, the trick is quite simple and drastically improves your movement with a little practice.
How does the slide cancel change with Vanguard? When you come out of the slide, the tactical sprint does not start immediately. There is a delay of about half a second before you start the faster sprint again.
To utilize the speed boost, you have to wait a moment, so you can’t initiate the next slide cancel right away. This leads to your hit zones being less in motion.
On the other hand – if you keep using the slide cancel continuously, you no longer have the high speed of the current trick.
How this will affect gameplay remains to be seen. But it seems you will have to decide: either you move faster or you are safer. Both may no longer be possible.

Slide-Cancel is considered a “positive exploit”
How does the slide cancel work? It is actually a kind of exploit that bypasses the mechanics around tactical sprinting. With tactical sprinting, you can run slightly faster than normal, and the slide cancel allows you to bypass the cooldown of tactical sprinting.
The trick is regarded as a kind of “positive exploit”. The slide cancel is seen as a move that you need to learn if you want to improve. Timing is especially important; otherwise, the trick is quite simple:
Slide-Cancel in Warzone:
- Activate tactical sprint
- Press the button to slide
- While sliding, press the slide button again
- Then press the jump button
- Start tactical sprint again
Once you slide, you can cancel the sliding by pressing again, thus “canceling”. However, after that, you are crouched and need to press the jump button to get back up. By pressing the jump button, the tactical sprint is partially reset, and when you stand up again, you can go straight back into super sprint.
You need to activate the buttons relatively quickly one after the other. If you make a small jump after sliding, you pressed the jump button a bit too late. For an optimal slide cancel, enable “Slide on button press” instead of “Hold down” and “Automatic tactical sprint” in the settings.
Is this really coming to Warzone? It is currently uncertain. The multiplayer experience of Vanguard serves as the model for the new Warzone, and currently, it looks like the Battle Royale will play just like the multiplayer by the end of the year.
However, real details are still missing. Also, when Warzone will switch to the Vanguard engine with the Pacific update is still unclear. So far, it’s only said: by the end of the year, around the Vanguard release.
Expert XclusiveAce hopes for a separation here and would like to see the old slide cancel in the new Warzone as well. However, he finds the change quite sensible for multiplayer. In which form the slide cancel will come to both shooters cannot be said for sure at this time.
