Dark-type decks are currently quite popular in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Want to expand yours? Then you should have an upcoming event on your radar.
What kind of event is this? According to data miners, a new “Massive Outbreak” is set to start on February 21 in Pokémon TCG Pocket, featuring Dark-type Pokémon (via ptcgpocket.gg). This event is expected to run until February 27.
The exciting part about this: some of the strongest cards in the game right now are Dark-type Pokémon. At the forefront is of course Darkrai-ex, which currently dominates the meta in TCG Pocket and leads several popular decks. One of those is the Darkrai-and-Snibunna-ex deck, which has climbed high up the list of the best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
As part of the massive outbreak event, you have a good chance of securing at least Snibunna-ex and its pre-evolution Sniebel. Snibunna-ex is expected to appear as one of the options in special wonder draws that will pop up from time to time during the event. Other cards in this wonder draw are expected to include the following:
- Either you get a mix of Snibunna-ex, Darkrai, Smogmog, Kramshef, and Magnayen
- or Snibunna-ex, Darkrai, Smogmog, Skuntank, and Kryppuk.
In addition, there will be bonus picks where you can receive Kramshef, Magnayen, Skuntank, Kryppuk, or Sniebel, Fiffyen, Kramurx, Skunkapuh, Glibunkel, and Smogon alongside items. Which of the cards you ultimately draw is, of course, a matter of luck.
On top of that, the event will also offer a chance to obtain a special flair for Snibunna-ex and to complete various tasks that yield additional rewards.
But keep in mind: As of now, this is only based on datamining. Whether the event will actually start in this form remains to be seen. However, leaks from this source have proven reliable in the past.
Get Snibunna-ex for one of the best decks
What are the best cards in the event? Generally, Dark-type cards are currently interesting because Darkrai-ex can be combined well with them. Snibunna-ex is of course the most exciting card to hope for in this collection. The Pokémon features low energy costs and can deal a lot of damage quickly – especially if the opponent has already taken damage. Then it deals even more.
To get Snibunna, you need Sniebel. For those who do not have it yet, the event also offers the chance to obtain it through the bonus pick.
And: Kryppuk should not be underestimated either. It might not look like much with 10 damage per attack, but this 10 damage applies to all of the opponent’s Pokémon in play. Depending on the game flow, this can be a pretty nasty surprise if your opponents have just barely saved their Pokémon with low health to the bench.
Smogmog also has its place in some decks focused on poisoning. So it is interesting as well. What kind of deck do you play? Which of the cards would you find the most useful? Let us know in the comments! And if you want to play something different: Here is an unusual deck featuring Pachirisu.
